Err what ?
Screenshot of said problem.
You buildings look quite spaced out and they don't have a fluent style. Also, your textures are all different scales. You might consider making your own textures without the high amount of detail so it looks better from a distance. sorry for the thread hijack but I think you can get away with tiling textures like so... [img_thumb]http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/6120/testminicity00002.jpg[/img_thumb]
What's that texture on the bottom of all the buildings called? I see it everywhere but can never find it.
What's that texture on the bottom of all the buildings called? I see it everywhere but can never find it.
Search 'temp' short for template in the texture browser. Thats the name valve used for all the building facades in City 17. That particular texture is right at the bottom of that list.
I really have no idea how this happend :I
Low light_environment brightness (if any) with fog color set to white.
How do i make it brighter ? all i did was what i did before so i have no idea why it happend
change the fourth value in the light_enviroment in the brightness/brightnessHDR key-value.
change the fourth value in the light_enviroment in the brightness/brightnessHDR key-value.
Are you reffering to the -1-1-1 1 numbers ? (and i think you mean BrightnessHDR or both of them )
Yes, change the fourth value in the series of numbers, I'm referring to both, if you are compiling the map with HDR then you need to change the HDR as well.
You may want take a look at this map and compare it to yours, then try to make your own map just about as good as this in terms of textures and brushwork. http://www.gamebanana.com/maps/13240
I like it how Zay333 has gone through the thread and marked all of greatdictator's posts dumb...
If the number you have tried is too low, e.g less than 50 up it a fair amount as to make sure it isn't thelight_environment with the issue.
Although you should be using the light envirnment setting dictated on skylist
Although you should be using the light envirnment setting dictated on skylist
I did i changed it to the tides skytexture I used the same numbers that were in the skylist that you sent me i set the brightness to 242 224 183 850 i set brightnessHDR to 0 51 0 -60 like it says in the skylist there but its still the same it wont stop being black
is it inside the map?
What do you mean by that ?
What do you mean by that ?
Is the light_enviroment entity within the skybox?
Is the light_enviroment entity within the skybox?
Yes it is. Ill try deleteing it and replaceing with a default one and see if that helps
Conceptually this is actually pretty cool, but I can't help but imagine how neat this would be if you remade as much of it as possible in 1:1 scale.
Conceptually this is actually pretty cool, but I can't help but imagine how neat this would be if you remade as much of it as possible in 1:1 scale.
I guess i could try it at some point later but for this is the first map i actually sank any time into properly
I guess i could try it at some point later but for this is the first map i actually sank any time into properly
Out of interest, how much time are you talking about?
Out of interest, how much time are you talking about?
Well im not sure but i know that instead of playing games each day hammer is open for the most of it (as is i switch between watchin something and makein the map) Id say over the course (since i started this thread ) at least 10 hours but like said not sure could easly be way more
10 hours
That's nothing.
That's nothing.
Like said could be easly more i dont exactly time these [editline]24th October 2011[/editline] Now anybody else have any ideas how i could fix the light , cause i dont know anymore , map still works when i remove the light but everytime i add a lightsource the ligths all fucked up and gives me the blackness
Good maps can take up to 6 months to a year to make.
You say this as if i didnt know that already 9.9
Don't knock 10 hours. Sure, the epic maps can take 6 months to finish but you can make something good in 10 hours. Personally, I have a very short attention span so I have to work more to those timeframes.

Though i am really getting annoyed by the fact that the light isnt working -_- , a friend just told me there are leaks or something
Simple way to check for leaks.. just compile with no rad or vis, then load the pointfile. I wonder.. a sp map for time; maybe a month? (probably ~generous)
