• How long does it take to final compile for you?

My latest, and most detailed, map takes about 40 minutes with little optimization. Lightmap scales are way smaller than I'll admit on here, though. Still working out the tree shadows. Some of the props, no matter WHAT I do won't cast proper shadows, even in a final compile with -textureshadows -StaticPropLighting -StaticPropPolys. Sadly, I have done this already. They show up in the compile log and everything. The main issue was with the cattails prop, which would never receive light, no matter what I did. Tried reassigning the origin with light_info (or whatever it's called). Some props cast pure black shadows onto the ground, making areas wayyy too dark, got most of those fixed, though. Then some props wouldn't cast shadows based on it's alpha. I'm sure I was just missing something obvious, but I've managed to get it all looking okay for the moment.
Whats going on with these shadows? Only happens here. edit: this isn't the right thread
