You must be really, really, really bad with google if you honestly think that.
Left 4 Dead 2 - started decorating. :D
oh my days a mansion i wanted this for ages

Tomb Raider: Underworld textures. Adding bumbmaps now.
Feels a lot more Left 4 Dead, don'tcha think?
Normalmaps you mean, looks nice. I'd use L4D2 though for the sake of it having melee weapons. Would be fun going through the whole map with only a chainsaw.
I love the feeling of the first game though. Maybe I'll do both. I'm having trouble with the column/brickwork textures- I don't know what to use as the ones from Underworld don't really fit.
I'm gonna start working on my RP map once I finish planning it in Illustrator, I just need to download the CS5 trial first. (I made the plan in school but I don't have CS4 illustrator at home so I'm gonna just install the CS5 trial.)
That's nice- but did you even mean to post it here? I mean it has no relevance to my response to your last comment- and it certainly doesn't fit the thread.

Comments please. Ideas for a better tagline? Thralls is a TRU reference many might not recognise.
Nice poster! I look forward to this!
Is the going to be a L4D2 one aswell?

Yes. :)
I love those textures! :D
Thank you, I love them too!

Awesome poster. It being Tomb Raider, the tag line should be something to do with boxes being everywhere, as Ta16 said. Sort of.
I know right, .
It's hard to go back to being 'basic' when you like to work with details! .. so I'm finding it difficult to make the manor. I might just make a manor that uses the Croft Manor textures, but doesn't resemble Croft Manor at all.. but I wouldn't want the old Croft Manor to go to waste. Perhaps I should release the .vmf hmmm or just wait till I can be bothered to continue it. :p
Part of being a good mapper is not re-creating replicas, but being able to put your own unique spin on outdated maps and make the spin WORK.
Don't be afraid to go astray from the original map geometry and textures.
Look at what they did when they made Counter-Strike: Source after 1.6
Compare the Source version of Assault or Militia to the 1.6 version. They are the same layout, essentially the same map, but totally re-spun into a complete new look and feel for the more modern engine.
You obviously have the skill and ability to follow tutorials closely, and actually RETAIN that information to use for other applications (that's how I learned). So don't be afraid to get creative! I'm sure once you learn correct optimization, you'll be a superb mapper. The map looks great so far, keep it up. ;)

LUL burnin' witches. Of course its not blew up yet. Jonny and I made the pretty, now he's gonna blow it up for me while I continue working on the inside. :>
So yeah, it's going to be a campaign for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. I'll be working on the map with a good friend JonnyT. We hope to stay close to Tomb Raider, but go do our own thing to make sure it's scary- and well, destroyed... zombieish etc y'know. Three levels, outside- inside, and 'beneath the ashes'. Okay, bye<3.
I'll post an update of the inside, all zombiefied in asec.

Looks awesome, well done man! :v:
Looks excellent.
And as for a new mapper, VERY excellent.
Very nice, proper use of effects; rain, fire, steam and such...
In the second/third interior shots; the door looks... wrong. The texture just looks like it is a flat gray. Did you forget to texture it, or is the lighting and such making it look goofy?
Either way try to fix that. Everything else looks great, that kind of throws it off.

I haven't textured the doors, windows or columns yet. Thats is why its still dev texture grey (my default). Other than that, thanks- really means a lot!
Awesome
Really nice dude, you've done such a lot of work in only 4 weeks. But you should update your first post with pics!
Beneath the Ashes take place outside, inside and under Croft Manor. The manor is now unfortunately a burnt wreckage, submerged in sewage water, and did I mention that its covered in zombies?
You're following a lead from a radio broadcast which states that one of the last evacuation centres for the United Kingdom is at Croft Manor. You being you, take it upon yourself to take you and your friends to investigate, in hope of rescue. This leads you all onto a scavenge for survival originating from the very grounds of Croft Manor to deep down into the ancient monuments located beneath.
RECENT IMAGES:
