Ok sure, I will start on one now! [editline]11:49PM[/editline] Just wondering, are you accepting any kind of tutorials? Or only Spacebuild texture related ones? (I have good carpet, wood, tile and metal creation ones, all different types of difficalty. [editline]12:04AM[/editline] Another thing, video tutorials...?

Tutorials don't necessarily have to be Spacebuild specific.
This. I prefer written tutorials, because they're easier to reference when working, but I'll take video tutorials too. If we're going to go that route, I'll make a youtube account for the site and host the videos there.
If you guys need a sign to use on a 128-tall border around the planet let me know and I bet I can whip one up that fades in when you get close to it.
If you guys need a sign to use on a 128-tall border around the planet let me know and I bet I can whip one up that fades in when you get close to it.
A sign?
It was discussed a while back, planets had 128 unit tall borders around the edge to keep ships and people from slipping off the edge. For a long time there was no way to indicate where the edge was or how tall it was and something that was suggested was something similar to func_respawnrooms in TF2. (Where a no-entry sign showed up when you got close to it). I think I can use a mip-map to change the texture from transparent to a no_entry sign based on your distance... It'd look a little funky if you looked parralel to it but I think overall it could work.
i had a thought that what if we built a 3d skybox for each planet that we felt needed one. this could possibly help with lag as well, as when they are on that planet they dont have to view the whole solar system it could also add a certain feel to each planet and make them seem bigger than they really are. though i'm not sure how hard it would be to set it up for multiple planets and still have the star box once you are in space... @Lord Ned : sounds good, could you just use a laser time line going round the planet that looks like a fence but only shows when you get close like you were saying?
Well I have 1 tutorial, with a kind of "Addon" tutorial, that shows how to change the colours etc. This is the outcome of Tutorial 1: This is the outcome of Addon 1 to Tutorial 1:
What program is that is it a photo shop add on?
What program is that is it a photo shop add on?
Its paint.net
It is Paint.NET with alot of plugins installed...
o kk ill just stay with Ps cs4 :)
Oh, I see, it's a tutorial for creating textures. While that's useful, I think that type of tutorial is a bit outside the range of where I want to go with the site at the moment. Thanks though.

Or do you want more Spacebuild textures, like skyboxes etc.?
Bump...? (User was banned for this post ("Bump" - Terrenteller))
skyboxes
You people still want more generic space skyboxes? I haven't even seen anybody use the last set I put out. :V
yes id like some i tryd turning one of them into a skybox but they got all mixed up (ft bk lt rt etc) so if you could have them split 512x512 that would be awesome :)
Is that not what you were after? Or do you want more Spacebuild textures, like skyboxes etc.?
I guess it's more of a matter of the type of tutorial. I'd like to stay focused on mapping issues, rather than veering off into texturing, modelling, etc. (the exception being planet shells and textures, as those are directly related to SB mapping)
using the planet dev kit, could you make one look like a deathstar?
yeah but you would have to build the multiple levels EDIT: some screen of a planet im working on its about 50% complete so some textures haven't been added and displacements etc and will ad stuff to the indoor parts of the base etc etc etc anyway pics. Entrance to each tunnel 3 of the 4 tunnels leading from the center base out to minor bases etc Inside 1 of the tunnels Birdseye view of the planet The volcano part of the planet Overall i am pleased with how its turning out and remind you its only 50% done but feel free to criticize or comment. also i think that having more than 1 or 2 planets with bases etc could be fun coz i find when i play sb everyone rushes to the ones with bases so having more of them could work and make it fun (though i mainly play space build maps with friends so yeah) EDIT EDIT: also if you could tell me how to make it so it says view image instead of crowding the page that would be better for us all :D

Or is that impossible with the water shader?
i tryed to make it into a water texture but i couldn't get it to work ill find the link for you and if you could do it that would be appreciated a lot! a tryed putting $selfillum 1 into the vmt but it came up with an error. at the moment the lava is just a texture and doesn't move. heres the link to the lava texture used http://forums.tf2maps.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=284 EDIT: if anyone knows a way for the lava to emit its own light that would also be appreciated!
if anyone knows a way for the lava to emit its own light that would also be appreciated!
I'll see what I can do  [editline]11:47PM[/editline] I haven't tested it, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work now. That was hard, took a good two minutes of hard work!
I know it may be a little late... but I could do some mapping. *A "Parking Garage" planet if you catch my drift. *A "Space Police" Base which just floats in space (or is stationary) Most servers have people who just want to dominate people... but that off topic. *Or anything anyone suggests i will try my best to get it done good :D I could also create custom textures if needed.

I'm digging that lava planet, add some red sprites around the lava as flares
I like the lava planet! What did you use for those lights? I know its a prop is it a vol_light? EDIT: Oh wait its point_spot
do you you mean the actual model for the lights coz they are tf2 models called walllight001a.mdl EDIT: @Sultan: and its definately not to late to start mapping @LimEJET: IT WORKS AMAZINGLY TY SO MUCH!!! (and lol at 2 mins) will post screens soon
No i figured it out thx! and Ive already started mapping going pretty good except for poor quality textures :(
I map in tf2 sdk coz it has a lot of nicer textures and you can use both tf2 a hl2 models and texture tho i am told there is way to do that in hl2: ep2 editor
Hmmm I looked and couldnt find TF2 models
assuming you have tf2 go into source sdk and in the drop down menu select orange box then team fortress 2. you may know that you may not either way. Once in their you should be able to open up maps you have made in hl2 and not have any errors
