Is this dead? I really don't want this thing to be dead...
Is this dead? I really don't want this thing to be dead...
I hope not. The tutorial was almost done!
Agree. I liked this. Screenshots and everything.
Agree. I liked this. Screenshots and everything.
It looks like it is dead, he has been posting in other threads but doesn't post here. Pity, it was so close to being done.
Not dead, I'll be completing the tutorial in a couple weeks. On my to-do list, lol.
Yay! Thanks for bumping this Bynari! I love the look of your new map! I hope it has a few new things that weren't in the old ones...
If you don't follow up bynari, i will k? not to encourage you to not follow up though
Do we NEED XSI for this? Or can we just use a sphere brush for the planet? And then turn it into a displacement? And then carve it?
Do we NEED XSI for this? Or can we just use a sphere brush for the planet? And then turn it into a displacement? And then carve it?
No, The texture won't work on the displacement or sphere. And never carve a sphere you crazy fuck.
Has this been abandoned?
Well, I can at least help people to get to the end of the tutorial so far, as for some things have changed since Bynari made it. XSI Studio is now called 'Autodesk Softimage', the link still works and the software is still free. To get the ValveSource menu in Softimage, go to http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=13525256&linkID=12544121 which has the addon for it. Install by going to 'file, install, addon' in the Softimage menu. I hope that Bynari will finish this at some point as it kinda leave you hanging, a few weeks seems to be a long time - not that I'm pressuring him to do it if he doesn't want to.
this is great :D! butt i have a QQ, I can't seem to find the next part of the tutorial if its been completed yet. or even the thread for it
I hope this question hasn't already been asked (i looked over the posts in this thread but it is still entirely possible that i missed it), but are these resources compatible with SB3? that is to say, do we have the necessary items to, say, set all of the atmospheric parameters for a planet, etc?
Well it's been more than a year now, do you think you can start this up again? Also, the link to the kit is broken.
What?
Well it's been more than a year now, do you think you can start this up again? Also, the link to the kit is broken.
He's not going to finish it. I learned the hard way that bynari doesn't do what other people want, only what he does. (I begged to him for a few months, but then i figured it out
Well then there goes the only good tutorial out there...
The sb mapping kit link isn't working can anyone. Send me a link I'm using a none steam sdk. Value. Hammer.because. the steam sdk won't work for me.
There is a kit and tutorial available inside RingDing's Spacebuild Factions/GlobalRP gamemode which is over on my github: https://github.com/philxyz/factions/tree/master/gamemodes/spacebuildfactions/mapping_tutorials All the stuff you might need should be in there.
