Who the fuck uses the arrow keys to move around, that's slow as shit, that means you have to move your hand from the mouse and back everytime you wanna move even an inch, rather than move your left index finger from D to Z.
Using arrow keys is a lot faster than using the Z-method. I can't understand how you people can use your mouse to move around. Not only it slows you down when working with railing and stuff like that, but it's also oversensitive as hell so your view will just jump around randomly.
Not so much. When you are in Z-view you can use WASD to move, A and D to stafe. If your Z-view is too sensitive then just try reducing your mouse sensitivity.

You don't use the mouse to move around, you use WASD to move.
It's exactly the same as playing a FPS... Which is quicker than moving your hand from the mouse to the arrow keys and back.
Twist your hand like 10 degrees to the right and you can reach the Z key incredibly easily, do this for long enough and you can press the Z key almost instantly without even looking, making it a MUCH more effective way than fondling with arrow keys.
I still think it's easier moving the ring finger from A to Z rather than twisting the entire hand and loosing grip of the so important W, A, S, D. :v:
gotta agree, I like using the arrow keys to move around, when I'm texturing.

How is it just like playing an FPS if I'm a lefty and have been using the arrow keys for over a decade?
I hate it.
:saddowns:
I always just look with the mouse and use AWSD to move, so this doesn't affect me.
Dear god this pisses me off so much.
Its not the fact that I cant adapt and use the Z key, because Im trying and it remember most of the time.
Its the fact that I often forget and now my maps gonna have random misalligned textures everywhere, where I subconciously forget about the tool changes.
It doesn't affect me because I always use Z anyway.
But yeah it's kind of silly.
yeah I use Z only
Its not hard to adapt, its a simple change, I always used to pan using arrow keys / WASD and quite easily I have managed to switched to using Z and, to be honest its far easier to use Z in my opinion, wish I did it earlier.
I agree with the first post, I have always used W, A, S, D and up, down, left, right on the key board.

For you it may not be hard to adapt, but for me it is.
Yeah it sucks, can't we change it back or something? It is very annoying.
You shouldn't be using Hollow in the first place...
I use hollowing for creating skyboxes quickly when testing my maps. If you want to sit there and create all 6 brushes individually when you are just going to delete it in 5 minutes anyway, be my guest.

Use cordon
Heh, I'm kinda liking the new texturing tool. Way better than holding mouse1 on a button or having to guess a value.

I agree.
They wouldn't have broken off from the interface they've used for nearly a decade just to be assholes, they obviously use this for mapping themselves because it's better and decided to give it to us.
In any case, I just made a simple little map and textured it and I feel nor see any difference in how the texturer is handling.
EDIT: From what I understand, all they changed was that the arrow keys move the texture around that you have selected. I've never used the arrow keys in hammer. I've always used wsad and Z.
Since I have always used z, I find this change incredibly useful.
Bumping because this new texturing tool is pissing the shit out of me.
