Interesting, do you have a portfolio or something?
I mostly tested source stuff in hammer just to check how much it can handle so most of it is technical stuff and like i said i never released a map because i never find them just done and i forget about them because of a new interest, im a visual artist by trade so i do allot more then just normal stuff. And since i recently moved to a new computer i started off clean.
Entering, I guess...
I would enter, because I AM working on a city map, but I started months before the contest was announced, and it isn't exactly a city in an extreme location, and it doesn't have any trains. Maybe I'll be done with it by the next contest or something. Good luck to all who enter though.
I know this will hurt in March, but I'll put up a $25 prize, any game on Steam worth up to that amount.
I am in, but I am not sure how well I can stack up against the legends on this board. Good luck, have fun guys!
I find it cool that the deadline's going to be set in my birthday. well, best of luck contestants! have fun!

So, is a Chernobyl like environment extreme enough?
Are you serious.
That's a bit of a metaphysical question for a saturday. Either you are thinking "that looks shit", or "that is just a city" If it's the second one, i haven't put the engines in yet, thus it's extreme score of 2.

I'm just slightly in awe at how elitist you can act, and then you post examples of your work that look like that.
I've already made myself come across as a dick, so no harm in continuing: It's not very good. I'm just slightly in awe at how elitist you can act, and then you post examples of your work that look like that.
It's my charm i know :) It's partly because of mapping bias. Any mapper needs outside input in order to get a good picture of how their map actually looks. And because most new mappers don't know this, and thus i have to use a little more force than is needed for most normal people, i come across as an arse. I'm not elitist though, i'm just vocal about how people should actually fix bugs if they are there, rather than hacking around it. I'm thinking here of the guy who said that he would just slay anyone who escaped the map boundaries by exploiting a run and jump issue...instead of fixing the issue. Also, minor point, i have never said that my work is the best on the forum. Actually i have been saying that oskutin is the best on the forum.
oskutin is a mapping god
I have been too busy with this: http://www.moddb.com/mods/infra And I kinda miss mapping for gmod, so i'll try to get something worth of release done with wotalt. But Now i kinda avoid making models and such, because of my main project.
So, is a Chernobyl like environment extreme enough?
well?
well?
I would say yes
well?
Certainly more extreme than melbourne.
In that case, I'm in :p
Count me in, but don't expect anything.
I dunno, it has trains
Tell me people, what would you like to see? [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/5IMhN.jpg[/thumb] (Thumb'd) I like the idea of a cave city like Zion from The Matrix. Pity I fucking suck with displacements...
Side of a mountain / cliff face
I always wanted a hollow sphere city, like if the earth was hollow and gravity was inverted on the inside you could look straight up and someone could be standing over you, and there would be this huge core that lights the whole place.
Sorry. Excuse me for, butting in here. I found your comment to be of the origin of someone with the mental age of 3? Now either you're 3 years old, or you have an extremely bad mental health problem and therefore should somewhat fuck off the Mapping Section. Iron could be the best mapper or the worst mapper at Facepunch. Personally I see him to be one of the better ones. It's not what you can do that makes you a good mapper. He understands what needs to be done to make a good map. He understands the rules and guide-lines that you need to follow in order to excel at mapping. Hence why the advise he gives is correct and helpful. His tutorials, are helpful. People learn from him. Now I don't really see him to be a 'arse hole' or 'elitist' here at Facepunch. More of a guru. Which is probably why you will find he is one of the main people here on the mapping section. If you don't like him, if you don't like what he says. Then just get out. Also, for someone that can come up with such a poor excuse of a comment like "i've made myself come across as a dick, so no harm in continuing: It's not very good". Well, and correct me if I am wrong. I've not exactly seen a master piece with your name on it. [editline]9th January 2012[/editline] I despise people like you. You're profoundly head fucked and profusely refuse to accept it. You come round here, strutting ya' stuff, and then you go leave hideous comments like that. "It's not very good". Offers no creative critism and does not help, in any way shape or form. Believe it or not. That is not how to act, sir. You sir, should die. No you sir, should eat my cock.
Gee' I'm terribly sorry, sir. Won't happen again, sir. I pretty much dropped it after he replied, I can understand his side of things, though I never responded which I admit is mostly due to regretting what I said when I woke up the next day. It was unhelpful, brash, and overall a massive dick-move.
Copying what i say also won't get you anywhere.
I wasn't apologising to you, jus' sayin'.
The Facepunch mapping contest: Derailment to the Extreme with Trains
I don't even have a train yet :(
Also, fucking enter me. I just started getting into the SDK again after a massive break. (This break being the duration of the arctic competition :v:)
