• Hammer Displacment Question

I've known how to make hills and things like that in Hammer Editor but I've noticed, that if I create a large surface using the block tool that i can only make these rough, huge, triangular shaped hills. How can I make these hills smaller without making the surface its self smaller?
The displacements can have different powers of detail 2,3,4 with 4 being the most detailed. You will probably need to cut up the brush into several smaller brushes.

Just note that power 4 displacements can't be compressed (resulting in larger map file size) and you can't use power 4 displacements in large areas without running into compile problems.
I always make a ''grid'' of smaller brush planes, turn those into displacements, then group them. bam, one big, non-spiky terrain.
