Youtube is the place for numbers not smarts. First rule under my personal mapping training is don't visit Youtube. Why? You'll learn later on. And these people end up impressing me within days-weeks with quality work.

Well...i just saw this thread, and thought i would take a break from seeing how many bugs i could find in alpha protocol to reply to this exiting and erm...interesting thread with some useful feedback.
Now...i know sarcasm. I also know that most people outside the uk do not understand sarcasm. It is easier to not use it, or end your sarcastic bits with </sarcasm>.
So...the fun bits!
First off, basic tutorials are on the whole unneeded. We have an excellent written tutorial from valve about how to make your first room. Everyone can benefit from that. In fact, you will find more tutorials about source than most other engines put together. In fact i have started recommending firegod's tutorials, because he does know how to map good looking and well playing maps.
That is where you lack at the moment. Because you map for css, you map for a group of people who are...on the whole...blind to ugly maps. Your maps are quite ugly. However, we use a superior engine, which means we can push the detail we add.
Other things differ as well. To make a ladder in hl2 is a lot more complex than a ladder in css. Simple things, but when people try to make a hl2 map and find there is no such thing as a func_ladder, it makes them panic and post a thread on here without looking at existing written tutorials.

I gave you some ways in which you could integrate with this community...in fact i think i insinuated that you were a wuss for not joining up with out competitions. In fact, one has just started...see if you really can map :)
You have given bad advice you people in the past. Remember that fake dmm tutorial. You defended it for quite a while until, i'm assuming, you actually tried func_breakable_surf and realised that was a better way for glass.

You sound like those people who come here parading their first map that they made using your tutorials. Then when they get the honest feedback, they state "you don't make maps, so you wouldn't know"
As i stated before, you could be more responsible 3kiliks. You made a series of successful tutorials, and then left us with the ruins. We are flooded here with flatgrass remakes, maps with leaks, no skyboxes, no props, big ugly boxes and i have even seen one where the mapper forgot to hollow his skybox, meaning the player spawned the middle of a brush. Now, it isn't all your fault, but you know we exist, and you know our feelings towards you mapping ability.
Now, there is a singleplayer mapping contest up at the moment with a 2 month deadline. Surely someone with your skill would be able to finish the exams, and get mapping a good looking but fun to play map. At the very least, if you are going to produce mappers from your tutorials that are going to end up here, maybe what you need to do is start integrating with this community more.

Although I don't feel any strong feelings one way or another, I don't mind 3kliks tutorials, or 3klik. I used his tutorials a lot and without them I'd not be mapping now. I'm not going to go onto sides on this however, but "Sarcasm is the lowest form of humor"... Now, I don't know you, so I can't make any real judgment on you Rombishhead. But that one statement, gives me the impression of you being arrogant. It sounds like you're trying to sound clever just to have something spiteful to say. Now, I don't actually know if you are arrogant, or spiteful, but, that really gives the impression you are. I'm expecting to get a bunch of nasty comments now, so I'll be leaving the thread now.
