This looks great, and i actually learned something here. I never knew those giant sphere ships, were the actual control centers of the Droid Battle Stations, I just thought they held a bunch of droids. Lol i know so much about Star Wars, yet something obvious as that eluded me till now =P
i am thinking you're gonna need a few more SPHATs. if you notice, it took like 7 or 8 in the film to bring down the ship.
I have to mind the performance too though, the SPHA-T walker is a complex shape, adding more of them may cause all sorts of problems.
Maybe adding some little rocks along the ground and maybe adding the destroyed ship in the middle (Like the Geonosis from SW:BF) so it doesnt look so plain.
The brushwork looks great so far btw.

Well, I would suggest at least 3 or 4 then, if possible.
Might want to use propper to convert some of that complex brushwork into models.

Ha! it'll be 2 at the very most I think.

I never used propper, how does it calculate the phys model, cause the SPHA-T walker has an inside and needs a complex phys model if it were to become a model.
though I suppose I can try and find out :P
Battle droids look so small compared to that xD

I was just about to suggest saving the brushwork as a model, and then you could have quite a few of them. Ive done it once, here's some info that may help:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=970412
and:http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Propper
It's actually another program that does it called Proper. It's relatively easy to use
Or, alternatively, if you have XSI, you can do this:http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Converting_brushes_to_models_with_XSI
Planning to have some homing spider droids?
Edit: These models might be useful?

Thanks, but those are mostly for 3d max, which I don't have and have no experience with. And if I was gonna add models, I'd make them myself.
Some of those models are realyl cool though.
I could make a brush based Homing Spider Droid, but it would probably look odd just standing still, which is less of a problem for the SPHA-T walker.

Sounds reasonable, but wont the At-te suffer the same problem as the spider walker?
Here's a small update on the displacements.

Wow that's good I'm awful with displacements

Aaaahh, that Techno Union ship brings me back to when I first played Star Wars battlefront. Great looking map, I hope to see the droids release for some posing.

I agree. Thats some bad ass displacements ya got there dude!
If you want an Acclamator .mdl model in the skybox I can scale it for you
That would be rather cool yes, the current one is nice, but not quite the right size. It looks good enough, but a full size Acclamator would ofc be even cooler.
I think that about 1.5 the size of the current one should do it, but that's just an estimate. The rest of the scaling is done by the skybox.

Of use?
I also have the model of the SPHA from RC too. But its too big to show in Milkshape.
Would it be easy to have one SPHA that is brush based, and have the others made from said mesh?
Disregard, i exported from milkshape and put into 3ds.

Nice, the gunship could certainly be of use. The one that's in Gmod now has a bad skin and crappy clipping.
As for the SPHA-T walker, the brush-based one I have in my map does the job fine, and you can walk inside the cockpit too. Which would be a lot harder to accomplish with a model. And having two different SPHA-T walkers in the map would only be confusing and ugly. Also, the UV seems fucked up in some places on your picture of the SPHA-T, on the front and back.
AH ok, ill upload the model of the gunship now.
Edit: Forgot to ask, what format should the model be?
I thought you were gonna export it to source :P
regardless, I use maya. But I've never successfully exported from maya to source. maya can open .obj
I have tried, compiled it and everything.
But it just wont show up in game. But i can give you the dx80 files or whatever i have, the textures in .vtf, and the source model (.obj)
That would be awesome, if you give the obj file though, I can also upgrade the model, perhaps an inside for the cockpit and a complex phys model.
Ok. Uploading now.
I have also included a model and textures for a At-Te if thats of use.
EDIT: http://www.mediafire.com/?yl3az1zqjmj
The file called models is what you need.
Awesome, when I get them ingame, if it's fine with you I'll upload the models on Garrysmod.org too so others can also use it. With your name in the credits for exporting of course.
Thats great.
I look forward to a release of this.
Also, a thought occurs.
Realism is hardly a factor in Gmod, but i was thinking. You have a Hailfire droid, an Atte and a Laat/i
The Hailfire and Atte counter each other, but what counters the gunship?
Maybe this will come in handy:

Sorry for double post, but i found 2 more models that might be good for your skybox.
