What the hell are you talking about? Ballpark requirements?
a "ballpark" number or requirement is an estimate. Don't ask me how the name originated.
Yeah, you must have done alot on it lately. I have 12000000 MB. That's more RAM than every computer in the world had in the 80s
Hey Stop Hoggin all the RAM :D Good to see the mappings still going. Any chance of some up to date screenshots :P
Bump! Progress report? I hop In$ane hasn't died! Maybe updated screenshots?
New images, please?
No surprises here. Unfortunately, this map is just too massive for any one person to even hope to complete. This kind of project needs 10+ people.

This looks like a Lord of the Rings thing.. It has mount doom for gods sake :P Well, it's nice none the less, a little bit too cartoony though.
This looks like a Lord of the Rings thing.. It has mount doom for gods sake :P Well, it's nice none the less, a little bit too cartoony though.
That's because you're stupid and you didn't see him say that the cartoony look was the plan overlay for the map.
That's the problem, in$ane doesn't want any help!
Because i don't need any! The mapping method i am using is highly effective. How fast i am able to put together the brushes (blocks) is simply incredible compare to what i have been doing in maps before.. :P And the compile doesn't take forever if you learn to adjust the lightgrid on textures to be more effective (decrease size, increase preformance and visual look).

I don't think you are, it just sounded like that in my post. Keep it up!
Yay it's not dead! Anything new, because if there is any chance of some screenshots?
If the map was dead, i would be dead too. Seriously, i won't abandon my most ambitious project in my 5 years of mapping. >.<
If the map was dead, i would be dead too. Seriously, i won't abandon my most ambitious project in my 5 years of mapping. >.<
So true, so emotional. Keep going In$ane!
What Rickzzz said "keep going!" (When I meant dead I meant the thread :P)
So true, so emotional. Keep going In$ane!
Is this a soap opera or something?
Is this a soap opera or something?
Yes, didn't you pay attention? We decided that after the commercials.
Of course it's a soap opera! This whole site is a reality TV show! And they subliminally make you buy hair clips and towels with starfish on! [/sarcasm]
Honestly if you don't have anything positive to say about this map, bloody well don't say anything at all and before you comment on it READ THE WHOLE THREAD insane has answered alot of the questions and things through out it.
Honestly if you don't have anything positive to say about this map, bloody well don't say anything at all and before you comment on it READ THE WHOLE THREAD insane has answered alot of the questions and things through out it.
Very few people will be willing to READ 11 pages. They may skim read, for pictures and what-not, but I doubt they would completely read the entire thing.
I read all the posts :P lol! Hope you will make an relase! This map will be great! :)
Oh my god, this is really cool, just like 'oblivion ( (; )' without loading :) Hm, it's a really good progress, but it need to be higher, and more detailed, else it's cool ! :)
No surprises here. Unfortunately, this map is just too massive for any one person to even hope to complete. This kind of project needs 10+ people.
Actually there are many projects single mappers take on board by themselves. The problem is the vast majority that can't handle a little bit of hard work give up, which is a disappointment, it's good to see in$ane wants to finish and create his map of his own accord. There is no project to big, does anyone remember ross smith? He made 3+ mods for hl1 with no help, so no task is too big for one person.

Five words: This is so freaking cool!
I disagree with you on those points: 1. He means when there are problems in the map, or if there are things which were done wrong, and you have to fix it up by re-doing alot of stuff, most people just drop the map, that's what he means. 2. It doesn't matter how long it takes to make the map, free time is free time. It's not like there are rules about what time to map and when not. 3. Some of those maps could turn out very fucked-up, because of the advancement of the mappers, and the differences in architecture. Although it could turn out good, most of the time, architects in the real world build according to the rest of the enviorment. Dicsuss. EDIT: Yeah. :eng101:

HOLY CRAP! Huge map, gold star. (When this is done, will it be available for gmod9? :D)
HOLY CRAP! Huge map, gold star. (When this is done, will it be available for gmod9? :D)
.bsp map files are used by all of the Valve games: DoD, DoD:S, CS, CS:S, HL2, HL2 Ep:1, HL2 DM, etc. Because Gmod 9 and Gmod 10 are both mods for HL2, no conversion is necessary (in fact, any source .bsp map from any game or mod, as long as the game or mod uses Valve's .bsp as opposed to .bsp's from other games, will work on another game/mod)
How about a unknown temple that opens when you place a shovel in the dirt by a tree that was once struck by lightning. It could open a legion of Zombies but if you make it to the end it will reward you with a glass jar for capturing players like ghosts.
