Yeah, he has been not doing some work for a while, but I'm looking forward to seeing the map without the black bits. :D
Ok, so I thought I might update you people on where i am with the construction of the map, (i might get done with the rest today, and then start on small stuff which is easy.) I got like 15-20% left of the basic physical terrain of the world to construct, 5% of it is easy and is done in like an hour. [img]http://www.freewebtown.com/insanetheking/mapprogress.jpg[/img] The image is taken in hammer, so anyone who doesn't map knows that. It will be interesting to count how many individual brushes (blocks) have been placed when the map is finnished. :P EDIT: I have also come up with an nice idea for the river that runs through the map. I want to make pull physical objects through it, like it's really flowing, so if you drop a crate at the top it will end up in the sea (probaly) I'll show some ingame pics soon.

Once again I find myself wishing Hammer had a larger maximum map size. Still, loving it, and I'm pleased to see you've taken it so far. I look forward to further updates. Welcome back!
I like the river Idea. If you choose to put in say a city somehwere along the river, maybe where the river starts in the mountains it's really clear, then as it gets to the city, it gets murky and polluted by the city, then it goes into the sea.

Good idea, but not for this map.
It looks cool and properly is gonna be cool too. A few things are bugging me though. Won't a lot of people with "Standard" PCs be lagged out if there has to be NPC's walking around all over? Are you thinking of making (or did you allready) a script that'll give it the final Adventure touch. Hope you know what i mean here :) And finally... Can i be a beta tester? :D

I don't have a shitload of directX 9 effects on the textures and the geometry of the entire map is extremely light compare to the size, and visual complexity.

Nice stuff, I'll probably use this map to make a couple contraptions. I'd like it if you [i]don't[/i] add anything extra, makes it so people would have to build their own towns and stuff.
