I think whatever you do In$ane, there HAS to be a part in the map with the [B]ruins[/B] of an [B]ancient civilization[/B].

I just think the volcano, a small village, and maybe a couple dungeons out in the field or desert would be good. I love Oblivion.

Yes I think a horse vehice would be very apporpriate! Only problem is it's probably for some obscure reason impossible :D Also I hope your school work has been going well In$ane, and I hope the map has too :D
Looks like a 1337 map.Put a ravenholm-like area,with a dead grigori or sumat.
Even tough it should have a medival/fantasy theme to it. It would kinda fun to find some ancient crashed spaceship or something in a "hard to reach" place. It don't have to be very big.
There should be a large Antlion colony, as well as a cave full of Zombies, that leads to somewhere near the volcano. Good luck with the map! It looks great!
Oh snap, just thought of a pretty cool idea! What if, in the desert there were like a grand canyon area and it would be pretty BIG! I think that would be pretty cool.
This map pulls off the "Monster Hunter"-esque feel ferry well, bravo to you my good sir.

you are right about the Zelda or Medieval theme, maybe a bit of both, and some Oblivion to it would be nice.
About the Stargates, for some people they lag, so how about not? :D
I'm getting closer and closer to complete the map. I started mapping on it again yesterday, and now finnishing the basic structure. Which also involves that i need to tune all the walls connected because they are creating one or two extra polygons to much. I'll demonstrate here :P

It doesn't make much difference if 3 blocks are optimized, but when like 600 are. It can change the FPS from 30 to 50-60 on lowend PCs.

Have you thought of making it an rpg map?
Get exp for killing monsters/people that get in your way. Monsters will drop loot allowing you to buy weapons but only at a certain level determined by the amount of exp you have. Also with the money you've looted from the monsters/people you can use that to buy property on the island.
If it's just a very big map with no gamemode then it doesn't really make much sense to me. :P
But if you have considered RPG then kudos to you.

They will only appear if you're near them. So every NPC has a trigger and when you touch it they spawn in that place.

It's ok if your using block's to make the cliff's but please tell me you're going to use displacment's to make the terrain?

The camera/view is under the displacement.
