Well obviously. I was being a smartass because 3DSMax.
I dun get it... Were you mocking the teapot? That thing's a piece of computer graphic history. What did it ever do to you?
well, with any luck, the advancement in facial motion capture technology will eventually allow people to use their webcams and stuff, so it all evens out!
Also, I love Gabe.
It would be interesting to use the Kinect for basic motion capture.
I seriously hope they just make getting content in easyer and bug fixing idiots dont need to be encouraged to map.
Next thing hes gonna do is release it for PS3 and Xbox 360
I was joking. Goddamnit.

Try and make brushes with a joystick.
Try and make brushes with a joystick.
Move Cursor with left analog stick, hold X/A drag cursor, there you have the top down view of the brush done, now move the cursor over to the side view and drag the brush edge up. Wouldn't be too hard to do, apart from typing in entity names.

I've used Hammer on a Logitech RumblePad 2, it is tedious and has a steep learning curve, but ultimately pointless
possible though
I hope they won't overcomplicate anything for the hell of it, eg "a new shiny pro way to make primitive brushes!". I'll just be glad if they fixed the little annoyances like the finnicky selection tool and general clumsiness.
I heard that its WYSIWYG
We'll see when they release. Hopefully their tools support all the Source engine games and not just Portal 2 on release, I might just fall in love with valve all over again.
Now let us load multiple GCF's at once into hammer.
if they have real time previews and the ability to jump in game I would cry from joy

3D view - lighting preview
F9 - Uncheck "don't run game after compiling"
Your wishes have been granted.

hahahahaha what a joke
I heard that its WYSIWYG
Ö That would be really cool because it does take a lot of time to get lighting right in some cases.
Hope it will finaly end misery and enter a state of realtime feel.

Meh, the whole compiling to see the lighting thing doesn't bother me if you're competent enough you'll have a rough feel of what the lighting should look like anyway.
Leaving the game open in the background and using cordon bounds if its a decent sized map to test the lighting, sorted :3:
I'd like to thank this thread for informing me about cordon bounds. I've been mapping for almost 5 years with Hammer and never knew about that feature.
Tools for mac.

Can you not use the SDK on a Mac? Wow, I almost bought a Mac for portable mapping once, good thing I didn't.

Corrected that for you.
Macs do the same as a Windows Machine just buy a cheap laptop.
Jump in game would be pretty amazing. It's pretty much one of the few reasons I use UDK

I actually wanted it because it was really thin, light, high-spec and surprisingly affordable.
In the end my Alienware cost more, I didn't go for the Mac because I was worried about a lot of compatibility issues.
Alienware computers are even more overpriced than Macs.

The fact you bought an Alienware makes me laugh, get a HP laptop, or a Lenovo, they're both good brands and alot fucking cheaper then a Mac, let alone an Alien Ware

M11x is pretty nicely priced for an uber portable gaming laptop type thing.

Do you have to throw petty insults at people every time you disagree with them?
