yes, midgaard i have to replace some music too
You could try an make some air con units, if they are on roofs and high up on buildings they don't need to be mega hi res and high poly. You could grab a texture from online and use propper to make a rudimentry air con piece. You may want to look into getting a modeller.
You may want to look into getting a modeller.
Or Propper. Or 3DS Max. Even though 3DS Max is daunting at first glance, it's extremely useful once you get the hang of it.
i've made some simple shit stuff with 3ds max but i'm really not into learning it, as i'm never gonna get so good with it so that i can make everything myself
Yeah, it leaks around quite a bit. I'll see if I can fix it, I think I know what's going on. Update: Step 2 is defining the zones of each room. So I was shown this cool lightmap editing tool over on TF2maps (It's a bit old though) It's rather interesting and I'd thought I'd share. http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=21080
It's old in the fact that the reason it was created has largely been fixed on valves end, but it does still work, in fact I used it quite recently.
Anyone ever wondered the accuracy of shadows in the Source engine? I just bought a new ceiling fan which looks very similar to the fan model which is originally made in Counter-Strike: Source Here is a earlier screenshot which I made: [T]http://i.imgur.com/ASFN9PS.jpg[/T] (The blades didn't get any shadows drawn because those were moving) And here's a real life comparison [T]http://i.imgur.com/qkcurzf.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/YP0So86.jpg[/T]
I've started that collab thing this morning. It's now 6 am and I've been up all day doing this. Obviosuly a Silent hill styled get up. [t]http://i.imgur.com/lYuGsVI.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/C7HP6Ke.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/CTXnqCL.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/b3noUY0.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/0jTQXK8.jpg[/t] Pretty happy with how the textures turned out, still not sure about the lighting though. Any comments would be well appreciated.
Is this kind of a horror theme?

I just watched Silent Hill: Revelation today. It was "okay"...
I think he added light bounce boost in his material file
Partially, it's mainly tonemapping and just a particular balance of sun vs ambient light brightness. The trick is to invite some really bright light (sunlight) into a really dark place (lightless interior), and its entrance is via a really reflective surface (bright texture, perhaps with high saturation value). Only after checking you're inviting the light into the area in this way should you then start to think about $reflectivity changes inside your VMT.
i've made some simple shit stuff with 3ds max but i'm really not into learning it, as i'm never gonna get so good with it so that i can make everything myself
Google Hangout with someone who knows 3ds Max inside out and you will learn more in half an hour than you thought you could in a month. Also, everyone in this thread should read these two short articles on procrastination and why we do it and how we can, like, not do it anymore.
Google Hangout with someone who knows 3ds Max inside out and you will learn more in half an hour than you thought you could in a month.
How would I manage to find someone willing to do that?
Th-those don't seem like articles to me...
Fixed.
How would I manage to find someone willing to do that?
By saying hi to strangers you like the work of :)

More rp_stiffyville ( I REALLY need a new name) Still mucking with the lighting. Here's an old bsp for those that want to mess around on it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ra77qvan2tjttwh/rp_stiffyville%20%281%29.7z
How about "rp_elegy"?
How about this.
rp_audacity or rp_eribank
There's bunkbeds with room for 4 and only 1 dresser? Also why are there bunkbeds?
Because Source has shitty bed models. If the collab lets us use L4D2 models I'll add some actual beds.
More rp_stiffyville ( I REALLY need a new name)
I like to use this location name generator when I can't come up with ideas.
yes, midgaard i have to replace some music too
I hate you for that damn skeleton in the closet
probably, but it'd be a waste since this is the only time i've needed modeling and learning it just for this isn't really worth it
Alright, just you might be at a big loss when Source 2 comes out :c
Alright, just you might be at a big loss when Source 2 comes out :c
that might be true, but i'm a very slow learner and spending years on modeling probably isn't worth it in the long run
that might be true, but i'm a very slow learner and spending years on modeling probably isn't worth it in the long run
I know exactly how you feel. Modelling just seems so complicated. I know if I am to keep mapping I need to learn but but I just can't motivate myself to do so. I haven't mapped properly in over 2 years now.
