And add some variation to those houses via textures.

A good observation but tools weren't up to our standard then, joints wouldn't fit perfect and would settle over time, plaster would go damp and bulge, wood wouldn't be cut as neatly. Most importantly people expect to see imperfection in medieval houses, if you give people something they don't expect they will scrutinise it, revealing any other imperfections.

There seems to be a lack of shadows IMO, but the map otherwise seems neat.
Hey guys, I need your help here. I am getting a bunch of ideas in my head for a mod I might be making later. But I'm kind of low on ideas. It is going to be starting in an underground area that have been taken over by the combine, or "Combinified", as I'd like to call it. And there's also going to be a city that has been been overgrown by plants, but still with some Humans inside of it, making some smaller fortresses.
And then ofcourse some foresty places.
But I still want to make the city to stand out a lot, and not look too much like City 17.
So what I wanted help with is mostly just ideas for models and such. Stuff like Combine machinery. And stuff like it. And later on, when I actually get around to MAKING the mod, I would ofcourse need some people to help me make it. So I would appreciate that help too.
But yeah, mostly. Hit me with your IDEAS. Maybe you've got an idea for some sort of nice NPC? That's it for now! :)

Make a seperate thread for this, ideally with some of your own work to show what you can do (dont be an "ideas guy"). Though this thread is lots of chatter it is first and foremost a thread for map pimpage, showing what you have got. Make a thread.

This final area looks a big lacking in the detail department. Perhaps take a tour of the stock maps and take a look at flavor prop placement. Some un-accessible flavor rooms would be nice too.
That Red Spawn Room the second picture has some good brush work on the building.

This is a WIP of my second ever map and I just felt like making myself a nice little clean city -- similar to that of Mirror's Edge. Any tips on how to make the lighting more exciting/develop further upon this?
I'm avoiding adding proper textures mostly due to the vast amount of effort required to obtain the required amount of suitable looking ones.
Keep in mind there's a WHOLE lot of space left to fill and all of this is subject to change.
