Disclose your source at once
Disclose your source at once
I want to say they are from Resistance and Liberation
He made them
Yup made them from almost scratch. I want to refine them a bit more and make some shrubs and skingroups, as well as lods.
Then I'll do a public release. (where should I release it? mapping? as they are kind of designed for maps)
EDIT: Added better reference pics.
So I figured I might as well share this. It might not be much, but hopefully someone'll find it cool.
I started making a replica of the FIB Headquarters from GTA V. Right now I'm only on the top floor but I might recreate the ground floor, maybe some of the offices you mop. Still trying to fix some of the dark spots. I might release it as a hostage map for CS:GO if it ends up playing well.

I took some creative liberties with the scale and lack of flag models, but I'm probably going to go over the main room and fix the proportions now that I know how to get into the place in-game and look around.
Some crazy nice shit here
We allowed to post GoldSrc stuff as well?
That's all I've been using right now

Sorry bout the low res, was using non-steam HL

Small guard tower prefab using cartoony textures made by a friend. We're making a simple HL2 mod for my little sister in law (she's 8 and loves first person shooters), we want to give it a fairy tale-ish atmosphere, possibly with Rayman 2-esque vibes.
It's not particularly complex or pimped but I'm satisfied with it and would like to show it off c:
Adjusted the lighting and a few trees as well as made some okayish grass (not sure how to get it to look super good)

i think grass looks better when it somewhat matches the tone and color of the ground

This is the best picture of the main room that I could find. It looks a lot more accurate at better angles.

Looks good, I would remake the FBI logo overlay though, current res looks like it might be a bit too small.
I think grass looks better when it's not in the source engine
Is 512 too wide for a suburban street in the US? 384 looked a little on the narrow side.
Edit: Actually, now I've made the street wider, I feel like the houses should be a lot further apart too.

The city is certianly getting bigger now. I think it's nearing completion!
oh wow, years ago I tried to make something like this full-scale but it didn't work out too well.
This looks awesome, keep at it! :D

On top of this, it might be better to make it FBI rather than FIB. Because CS:GO.
Added another building and started adding stuff to the lower portion of the map

I've been messing around

Okay, so I finished off the city in terms of buildings, but now I'm trying to make it seem more dynamic by adding little touches such as plumes of smoke -- I'm not really sure what else I can possible add to be honest.
Any suggestions are welcome as well as C&C!

Good idea! I'll get right on that tomorrow.
Shit, I don't want to spam pictures of the city but I don't really have anything else for pageking!

can we get some pics of it to player scale?
So what is this city going to be exactly? An entire map?

You should make the railing emit a "clong" sound once it hits the floor. Otherwise, well done with the environment! Also, why is the vision wobbly?
I've been messing around
I love it! The falling railing really adds to it (though the clunk when the door opens is a bit harsh on the ears).
So what is this city going to be exactly? An entire map?
It's more an experiment than anything. I guess it could make a good 3d skybox but I mainly made it for fun.

Actually you can hear the railing hitting the lower floor around 2.5 seconds after it fell. but the sound almost sound like the ambience. I am working on improving it.
The video was Woobly because of Youtube It should be fixed now.

512 is about right, but I would set the houses further back--maybe up to 384 from the curb? Generally the going trend from WWII and on was to have enough space to park your car lengthwise in the driveway (so ~20 ft).
Then again, this is a video game, so you might have to reduce the scale a bit for gameplay needs.

Loved how you managed to achieve the looks of a city using just only halflife.wad textures.

Street looks just fine, kids need a lot of room to play land hockey and football and stuff on so it makes sense it would be that wide.
As for the houses, yeah, suburban houses do have pretty big lawns, right?
slowly shaping stuff, I'm not sure how I'm going to detail this.

Suburbs. American cities have lots of them.
