Anyone knows how to get source SDK working? it always gives me a plethora of error messages and i have tried googling the error messages, but the fixes propsed doesnt work. I get some weird "scheme file" thing and the map view is all fucked up

You have to go to the directory of the game you're mapping for (use the Half-Life 2 directory for EP1 and EP2, to use them select them in the prompt), go into the bin file and open hammer.exe. It'll open a prompt asking you what game you want to map for.

If you want to keep the lights yellow, I would change the shade of yellow to be more subtle.

Hell, if someone made an exact replica of my neighborhood or one of the strip malls next to my neighborhood, I would've found it pretty neat.

[editline]2nd February 2014[/editline] Talk of a map replicated from your street for example can easily be done with reference to Google street view, most of the roads are covered so you can make towns exactly the same if you wanted. My idea is I could screenshot a portion of a city, convert it to vtf and texture the floor with it and work the geometry over it ensuring that I get the proportions correct, of course a whole city to scale (e.g. New York) would be impossible within hammer but I suppose it would be possible to scale it down to get it all in - thats something for the future anyway and I think someones beat me to it.

The cannonballs destroy bits of other ships. The cannonballs also destroy people. The cannons destroy people if you retardedly stand behind them. The swivels work (depending on how you define "work") The carronades for the topdeck are almost working. The boats can be customised before the round begins. Choice of armaments and such. Planned, partly implemented, all working. The ships can be disabled and sunk. Guns can be shot out by other guns. To list where I could really use a helping hand (or better still somebody to just do it for me): Smoke for cannons. -Big issue, I can't get any smoke or steam in source looking right. Lua - if anybody wants to contribute I'm pretty close to a playable beta and a gamemode and/or some musket/cutlass sweps would be glorious. Double sided texture - I did it once before. I need it for the sails, how do I do this? I forgot. Past that, any critique on design is welcome, excluding the rear window which is already scheduled to be redone. In advance, telling me I need to add a longboat on the place reserved for the longboat or add gold shiny stuff to the back is useless - it's going to get done. Focus on critiquing what has been done, if you'll offer the much appreciated critique. ;)
