Does anyone else use "dDo" to create source textures? I love this program.
My current WIP, I plan to make many of these will variants panel layouts and maybe different colors and make a space station map in hammer (again)

Make a cylinder, make a box around it of equal dimensions, and then make as many triangle brushes that connect the edges of the box to the vertices of the cylinder

I really don't like PK02, it's far too stylised for my liking. Textures like that feel more like for dedicated models, rather than generic textures than can be combined to make something detailed.

the previous version of dDo is free, just click the text link next to the preorder button. It requires Adobe Photoshop CS3 or higher though (I think). If your a college student you can get CS6 really cheap like I did.

arch is useful for cylinders inside cylinders but for ones like these walls where it's not seen from the outside, it's actually a waste of brushes / faces.
and yes, I know of the horror of curved cylinders. hence why I'm making sure all of those tunnels are straight
Arches can be clipped and quickly vertexedited to the shape you showed, and without going to gridsize 1. IMO arches are faster but either way is fine, really.

I'm interested to know more about these kind of programs / plugins, because i always made my materials from scratch using paint.net.... took me like 6 hours to make a nice looking Smooth metal lol

dDo is great if you can get a hold of Photoshop and the free Nvidia normal map plugin.
