I'm no architect, but in my experience bathrooms don't usually have windows that big or that see-through.
my RL bathroom has a window with similar refracting glass. but yeah, it's much smaller and higher up on the wall. also, align that wall tile texture either to top or bottom. cutting pieces of tile like that makes no sense.
Smoothing groups work, they're just rarely used (probably because there isn't any way to tell if faces need smoothing in hammer).
No shit they work, I use them all the time, just the numbers that are assigned to the groups are meaningless, they are just an ID. wazanator was saying "use group 16, not group 1" when that doesn't do anything to change how it compiles.
also, align that wall tile texture either to top or bottom. cutting pieces of tile like that makes no sense.
That is how the texture is made, I see a lot of bathrooms that do that. Oh my bad, I didn't see wazanator's post (who I think is confusing smoothgroups and lightmaps).
The T & CT's have put their weapons down... and picked up the hammers! The result is this super awesome futsal (small football/soccer) field! [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/fXJrMgz.jpg[/IMG_THUMB]
All this brutalist talk gave me a great idea for a map, I'll try to make something quick and post some screens of it soon :o
Any news ? :v:
Any news ? :v:
Sorry, Im working on it, just its not in any form I want to show yet and I have been busy with school work.
Oh my bad, I didn't see wazanator's post (who I think is confusing smoothgroups and lightmaps).
You would be correct :suicide:
I did this To get this Then I realized I could've just used overlays. Well, no off-grid vertices if that counts.
The large circle and the two partial circles to the right can be made in one brush each, if they are flat
Godammit, you're totally right.
Lately I've been looking back at old maps I attempted but dropped and have been continuing them. This was entered in a contest and canceled ~Dec '10 I think Original layout, old screenshot Time and deleted models/materials took its toll but it is off to a healthy restart. Bombsite A of De_blizzard (Note: It's a wip) [img_thumb]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/579018555169591291/828827CC51635390B59034CF5D3FE54EEC482F9B/[/img_thumb]
What am I looking at?
The beginnings of a cafe terrace kinda thing. It's going to be a small French town setting inspired by the French Quarter in Disneyland.
A very cute box to live in [img_thumb]http://i.snag.gy/kkoGF.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.snag.gy/RT5oK.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.snag.gy/I5jjb.jpg[/img_thumb] Ref: [img_thumb]http://i.snag.gy/Z9brp.jpg[/img_thumb] Still not done though, but I like it already. If you want to know, then yeah, I will make the rest of buildings in the reference (and surrounding area).
A random building from Paris I decided to do for something I'm working on, still needs improvements and more detail (and better textures) but I think it looks decent for now; [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/VC1Y2SR.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/4goSdIl.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/A2MU9q0.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/fTG8PZZ.jpg[/img_thumb] Reference (the one on the right without the flag): [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/7WpYn.jpg[/img_thumb]
In my opinion it needs more work (such as general rounding on roof and fencing) but I like the textures already.
started to work on the beach [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/579018555171714821/CB7CCB62B94D50F2B6A2369BBA62E709AD59AE28/[/t][t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/579018555171707297/C8FB577D47C69D349B79FD75C60DFB5F86000D48/[/t]
The large circle and the two partial circles to the right can be made in one brush each, if they are flat
This circles on the ground, save brushes, make a round texture and apply as a overlay.
Would anyone care look at my map plan/plot? It is for a Zombie Survival Objective map. CC is appreciated, I'm also very sorry for any grammar errors.

Is it worth buying CS:GO just to get a hold of its textures and models if I already own L4D2? I probably wouldn't play it (Just like CS:S, I bought it only for its resources) I want to make a nice looking urban map, but without those models and textures it is really hard. Also can I pakrat the textures and models into the map from L4D2/CS:GO so that it will work as a gmod map or are they not compatible?

As for pakrating them in. You have to do some minor changes to newer engine models to make them compatible with older engine branches like the one gmods on. It's nothing complex though as easy as running a batch file.
