Don't mind the cheaply made operation table.
Its very nice but that fog does not match the skybox at all. It needs to be far darker.
I've been tweaking it on and off, and I'm not exactly sure with what I need to use for the fog. I'm using "sky_dod_09_hdr" for the skybox though.
I've also tried duplicating the skybox ambiance (51 86 125) with the fog, but even then it looks worse than what I already have.
I really need help with matching it, I'm horrible with determining what color I should set it to. But as soon as I get the proper match, I'll be the happiest dude in existence. I'm desperate to get it looking right.

Does anyone know why I get this when I try to make a DXT1a Compressed Texture? I'm using the ep2 engine and it's the same ingame.
Tried dxt5
Tried dxt5
Yes DXT5 works fine, but I'd like to see if I can make DXT1a work.
I have updated the first sector plot on zs_obj_viralcomplex.
Some changes include:
- Humans will now proceed through a abandoned office building before they reach the lobby of the Immersion Laboratories.
- Zombie spawns have been added and described.
- Humans will still exit through a fire escape, but instead it is in a abandoned apartment building and it now leads into the street.
- Instead of wave break and wave I have changed it to the exact time.
For the full list changes of the first sector, you can visit my blog.
Are you loading it in via vtfedit or what?
Vtf's use dxt1 (not a) if you want alpha, you need to use dxt5
Updating cs_bikini from the CS:S version for Trouble in Terrorist Town. Hoping to recreate some of the classic parts of the 1.6 map like the tennis ball shooter (still need a tennis ball model but propper hates me). No screenshots yet

I'm in vtfedit, the texture and the alpha channel look fine in vtfedit. I want dxt1a because the alpha channel is one bit.

I know this isn't the mapping question megathread.

Do you have the 2 boxes checked?

Yeah I do, I guess It's something to do with ep2 because as far as I can tell the file is generating properly.

Parents are building a house, asked for a 3D model.
Neat! Although is the house going to be from scratch? The architecture style seems a bit like my grandfathers house built in the 60s with the emphasis on brick but with some more modern angles and stuff.
Anyways completely unrelated here is some recent stuff I've been working on.

Just learn the basics of 3DS max and export a sphere and give it a tennis ball yellow/green it will save you a lot of headache.

trying to figure out how to make it look less boring (besides the lighting which i literally just slapped in to compile it)
Wall decorations. Posters or paintings. Something to make it a little more interesting, the room looks great
Yeah I'm in the middle of detailing right now, I'm talking more about the brushwork

Decided to just say screw it and remade it a bit smaller, it felt way too big for an apartment anyway. Again, ignore the lighting, it's only there to show the area off.

Your walls are sparse, put up paintings/pictures/torn wallpaper/a clock/some posters/a vent/a bulletin board/a wall-mounted light/a closet.
This is all crap from my room, but your (ingame) room seems void because it doesn't have the typical room stuff like that on the walls.

Would anyone be up for a train map competition? As far as I know there wouldn't be prizes unless someone donated
Only asking because it's been four years, and the quality of train maps is horrific these days. They're promising, but end up unfinished or otherwise. With a competition, hopefully a bigger quantity and quality of maps would come out. The train community would be ever so grateful if everyone could join in, prizes or not. There would be basic rules but other than that it should be something everyone can do.

I think you should get rid of that weird 6 in tall block thing on the bathroom cabinet and replace it with a thinner countertop. If you want a good example, just look at the cabinets that appear throughout L4D.

Fuck, I just lost a map I spent 8 hours straight on... Completely pissed off
Can you use the 'restore previous versions' function in Windows?
I don't think so, I was mapping with Hammer 3.5 for Goldsrc, and I don't think it has that feature.
What happened was I was creating a map, and then I decided to restart and did file>new, and started from scratch and I was saving it over the same filename as the map that I wanted to restart on, which is fine, thats what I wanted, but I didn't realize that it doesn't actually clear your previous map you were working on, and actually leaves it hidden in the background, so when I went to close the editor after finishing my map, I saved it first, then tried closing the editor, and it asked me if I wanted to save <themapnamehere>, so I was like yeah I guess so even though I just saved, but what it was actually doing is saving the old version running hidden in the background, so it saved over my new version.

Does 3.5 not have Autosave? Check if you have a HammerAutosaves folder under C:/ or whatever your primary drive is.
