My server is having a huge bottleneck now, because of the map not being updated. Looks like i have to go back to mapping after all :suicide:
So how do i get better? I've been using the same techniques since 2006 and i haven't learned anything new.
I can't be doing with this.

Looks great! Tposing player in the far off distance is a nice touch as well.

Week 2 update.
Finished:
-Touched up bad geometry that was causing odd smoothing on roof
-Fixed base slope--was way too narrow
-Skybox + lighting complete (CLOUDS!)
-Added decals (resized them after these screenshots uploaded, they're too small here oops)
-Added lights

To do:
-More than I can count. Smoothing groups, fixing exterior geometry, finalizing textures and specular masks, map displacements, minor scenery and teleporters, finalizing interior geometry, etc.
Unfortunately I just started classes and until I can get my laptop fixed I'm limited in the amount of stuff I can do from home. Hopefully that won't slow my work too much.
edit: lol now that I made weekly my report I'm seeing so many new problems, fuck

I played the PC version of Halo on a old celeron laptop with just 1 GB of RAM and a graphics accelerator.
updated the map a little
(sorry for the exterior picture, i placed a cloud dome in the skybox and forgot to disable shadows(now its gone)
but it just shows off the fog

I'm thinking of releasing it as a map for cg:go, despite...yknow, it being not as complex as most CS maps

Use a less noisy ceiling texture. It looks really bad right now.

Why don't games have curved views like that in 2D? I don't have a rift on my head but I still feel the 3D.

I get the feeling you could do something with the areas you've fenced out. Maybe an in-ground catwalk. They layout reminds me heavily of the FY_PoolParty_(x) maps and they manage to be great even with huge amounts of players.

I can't test your map so take my feedback with a pinch of salt or whatever.
Your exteriors look great, like really great.
Your interiors need some work though.

This for example and some of the coridoors you posted seem too flat/bare. Maybe add some more details, make rooms slightly higher and use the extra detail in that height. Some windows with geometry etc.

sure thing, if i'll get a new gpu till release, i'll do the pictures myself in 1080p(even though my tv is 728p, but it can display 1080p perfectly)

Just compared to the actual thing, and it looks really really nice. Needs more overall glow from the building and windows, but it looks really nice in its work in progress state.

I think you can do better for the top halves of the building, looks like you gave up halfway through because the bottom half is significantly better than the top half. :S
