i've actually removed the middle sprites. The bottom sprites should represent the spotlight effect (similar to one seen in fog)

If you have a spare PC you could setup an FTP on it along with steam then run a batch file remotely whenever you need to compile. Valve has a tool called VMPI and someone made a GUI for it but last I heard it didn't work or something.
i've tried vmpi but in my experience it drops the connection often and takes atleast 300% more time

This actually just crossed my mind.
I have a Acer pre-built here with a Pentium Dual core running Windows Server 2012. But in that case I probably have hammer fully installed on the server's D drive, and run it there.

personally I think a lot of the text drew the player out of being immersed, because some of the statements were subjective opinions that may or may not be what the player themselves thought. I'm not saying that's a bad thing in storytelling, but personally I don't believe it has a place in horror games.
also, the part with the zombie needs work. while you show off the valve in the video before it has any use, a player might not notice it and be stuck at that point. all I can recommend is having the valve on at first, with a wall of fire blocking progress, forcing the player to turn it off and be both aware the valve exists and it's purpose.
I really have to stop dumping stuff here every time I make something but I've been really excited about this project.

I would say you could make the general store bigger, and add windows to the interior angled walls near the door. Maybe increase the first floor height a little more, since most buildings with a store/restaurant on the ground floor have a higher ceiling than offices and apartments on floors 2+

If I were being paid to make orange look nice and actually play like a decent map, I probably would make it look something like this as well. But you're right. Mine has nothing on yours. I don't actually like the look of orange at all. But hey, money is money and the guy who's paying me likes my work. (He's a hardcore orange player)

You can make the player ignite when he touches trigger hurt, can't remember how to do that though. Also make the player die faster and when he dies, it would gib the player, thus making him explode into burning gibs

I think you fucking nailed the atmosphere in the outdoor areas, but you really need to work on giving that same polish indoors. I would recommend you make the indoor areas a lot more desaturated and bluer in order to sell a contrast between the two areas.

Change the damage type to burn, that way the corpses are on fire when the die.

Damage type is burn, the other suggestions above should help make the lava be even better.
