This thread makes me REALLY want to start mapping again. However, Hammer crashes almost every single time I open the flags tab, for any entity. Is there any particular reason for this?

I heard that ATI cards don't like the Hammer renderer but I'm not sure if that's really true. You may want to try to reduce your max undo levels (mine are set to 200 and my computer has 8 gigabytes of RAM).
I know that it may sound stupid but you could also try to completely remove the Source SDK/whatever autorithing tool you're using from your computer, IE deleting it from the Steam folder, and then redownload it.

Yeah, I have 8GB Ram too. I doubled the factory 4, and it didn't seem to have much of an impact at the time, but I've noticed a small improvement in the long run. And I believe it is ATI, since I've heard of ATI and Hammer having compatibility issues in the past. I'll probably end up with a nice graphics card by the end of the year, so that'll be cool.
And also, since I haven't actually posted content in a while, have some screenshots from an abandoned project.

Very Old map i made a year ago. Project got abandoned after formatting my computer and lost everything :/

If i was able to finish it, it would have been sent to the golden eye source team to to see if they wanted to add it.
The picture you see here are from a WIP version. its also the last thing i found from the project.

I'm not a very big fan of the super dim lighting and lack of windows, but maybe that's because Hollywood airports are usually 100% windows.
In the smaller, local airports, they're mostly just one-story high. Windows wouldn't really do much, especially since they'd need to be small enough so nobody can sneak in from outside. Plus, they usually add a bunch of special padding material inbetween the walls to block out the sound of the planes.

I have a new Goal with Hammer Editor. Now i want to reach the professional mapping level. well as close i can do.
my Hammer dont seem to have much problem anymore so I will try to work on it a lot. Lamarr is the one which the work inspired me the most. I use hammer since a bit more than a year now and i want to get about his level. maybe a few years of work but why not :D

I already knew this, and you can fix the SDK yourself. I have not tried to work with it, but I got HL2:DM and CS:S to work before. Also not looking forward to that update. You know Valve, fix one thing, totally breaks something else.

The L4D airport props could really use a reskin as it doesn't fit in with the newish airport design of the map
So I touched hammer for the first time in a long while yesterday.

I normally don't make custom content for maps, but I had a bit of fun with this one and created:
- Butterfly particles
- A detail sprite vbsp and slightly modified a foliage sprite texture from Ep2
- Ground textures that I shamelessly stole from a Skyrim pack (I'll credit the author if I ever get anywhere with this)
- Color Correction (Not really difficult to do, but it looks nice.)
I'd love to hear some feedback and could use some help with one problem:
My butterflies act nothing like butterflies.
Smokevolumes cause the butterflies to move in odd, linear patterns and smokestacks result in fading/random rotation (my butterflies usually fly backwards). Help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, any recommendations for better-looking trees? I noticed some nice pines in a few screenshots here, aren't those from L4D?

I think animated models would be better. Go ask the modelling section if they can help.
I might can make you some pine, I'd need to find some good textures.
