Lope, why not use webm? It has wide browser support; especially for those running Chromium.
because I don't know how to in Sony Vegas and I don't really feel like downloading a converter
So, as some of you know, I'm working on the combine textures. But I'm insecure about some of them, can you provide me some feedback about these: I think they have an unique combine feel. but i dont know if it's good enough. Maybe if i made another pack with these kind of textures in it instead?

You should put them in a small testmap with combine-like architecture and lighting.

those would look great for Combine scenery in cold environments
Since you guys liked my stupid elevator so much, I made another :v: This time I experienced with movement easing in/out + leveling speed. You never really see it in maps since there's no option for it; each individual speed has to be set manually. Surprisingly, I ended up using only about 20 inputs for that. no fancy projectedtextures this time
Hopefully, they don't looks too repetitive. It would be bad for the effort you put in them
Sadly, a lot of them have those "two panels and some rust" look. But since their original metal texture isnt the same, I hope it will be okay :)

The best of the set
what should I map next
The best of the set
needs more blue shadows
The best of the set
I find it reminiscent of some of Kazimir Malevich's paintings.
what should I map next
Map something like this.

[editline]29th November 2014[/editline]
Those look nice, my only critique is the lower middle one looks like concrete to me
i've made a few concrete textures that look dark. Just to extend it a bit more. You know, the more textures the better :) And if people just dont like the texture, then simply just dont use it :) EDIT: have to say though, it's actually painted metal.

Here's a concept for something I was working on If the video isn't working, give it a few minutes, I just uploaded it.
Thanks guys, I will give this a try. I know I complain about up-down ones, but they're the only ones I can do. The rotating ones are too advanced for me, I've tried them over 30 times. Mapping for a few years and I still ain't that good lol
Okay, so this worked. I am a dunce. I know now I must use func_door. You guys are helpful, thank you for reminding me how to make something. :P
Made an update to that vid I posted earlier today. For some reason the video is super jumpy. I don't know why, but it's been doing that to me lately.
I kinda don't get surfing probably because i never bothered to learn it
I kinda don't get surfing probably because i never bothered to learn it
hold A or D and use your mouse to move. Not terribly too hard to learn anyway here's an update to that cliff house map: [t]http://i1.minus.com/iKctEIAzvu2ti.png[/t] [t]http://i2.minus.com/i7W4zvYDNUYIQ.png[/t] [t]http://i3.minus.com/ibv0ag2j49KZTp.png[/t] anyone know of an easy way to make those corners less sharp without using displacements?
I kinda don't get surfing probably because i never bothered to learn it
It's not really for everyone, and it can take a while to learn. I like it because I find it relaxing, and I enjoy making these types of maps. This one I'm working on, you have to go the left path once, and the right path once, then the middle path opens up. It doesn't matter what order you do them in though. Textures are gonna change, I was just kind of laying them out the way I want. I think I'm gonna open up the roof and use a skybox, or maybe just put some windows in or something. Not sure yet, just kind of making it up as I go. [editline]29th November 2014[/editline]
What's up with that terrorist body briefly appearing around 0:25?
I recorded the demo on my server instead of localhost, where I had friends testing it. It recorded the frames through the teleport, which isn't actually just setting a new position, it basically "slides" you to the position really quickly. It must have gone past one of the bodies or something. I'm not really sure. [editline]29th November 2014[/editline]
anyone know of an easy way to make those corners less sharp without using displacements?
The window corners?
The window corners?
Yeah, I could use the same method with displacements that I did with the cliff and create like a small, short "cave" around the window, and that would look great, but I don't want to use more displacements. Plus it would be on a small scale and very hard to do. [editline]30th November 2014[/editline] also it would be basically impossible to line up the edges of the displacements with the walls, so I might just make some quick models, but I have no idea how to model for source, or how to convert the units in hammer over so I can create a properly scaled model example: [t]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OZ79ii_wKIA/UiCZk8YjycI/AAAAAAAAC0U/AGHX7W3dTyY/s1600/12.JPG[/t] the windows on this model are very smooth and round, that's the look I'm going for. (probably gonna remove the glass once I do this)
You could make a model to fit in between the hole to smooth it out.
What it really looks like is painted metal.
*shrug* Just struck me as concrete for some reason. I still like it...
Guess what I'm also working on: [vid]http://puu.sh/dbahY/afd734c4f7.webm[/vid] [editline]30th November 2014[/editline] Now I need to start adding way more detail so its not so bland

[editline]30th November 2014[/editline] With doors that actually work.
