I think the roof is the weak part.
true, tried adding some more shit to it
Maybe that's your problem. Memory alone isn't reliable but with google you can find literally thousands of reference pictures in seconds.
there's still the problem of seeing the thing in hammer, i just don't know how to sculpt it really
Does anyone know if there is any wiki for this editor?
Amazing work, and yes, there is a wiki. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Dota_2_Workshop_Tools/Level_Design
Despite being discouraged of the new editor being exclusive to Dota2 I decided to try it. I completely started over on my abbey. [t]http://f2.braxupload.se/hume17.jpg[/t] Does anyone know if there is any wiki for this editor?
is that really brush?
I'm guessing it's a mesh
is that really brush?
Source 2 uses meshes now. They're like models, only you can make them in-editor.
Source 2 uses meshes now. They're like models, only you can make them in-game.
I'm really pleased to hear that, I found the limitations of brushwork as really frustrating.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/0yWQQZe.jpg[/t] Looks really plain but... i really don't know what else to do here. My shit architectural skills shine through
Might just be my personal taste but I don't like the light above the doors. The ones I've seen like that tend to have a shade over the top of them or some kind of cover. Also is it possible to export meshes from Source 2's hammer as a .obj or .smd?
I really can't wait to see if GMod gets put onto Source 2 whenever its release comes. Imagine the absolute size of the maps, the amazing optimisation that comes with the buildings, pieces, objets, and all that being models. I would cum all over the place. I could have the transport roleplay map I desire.
Working on "whiterun" from skyrim. halfway finished the maingate :P [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/41987769003496735/98F5D73F4D93A7F6A1BA2607EF673BF2BA22305F/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/41987769005382874/1BD0297D797E54D38FA85402F405E6B513B0B398/[/t]
Cant wait to see it with displacements

Does source 2 have a arbitrarily brush limit? God I hope not
v:v:v can't really find any fitting props for the gutter, they're always the wrong length
Propper as much as you can. Guttering, Pillars, stairs, signs and so on. Also with roof guttering, try making it square with one of the pipe textures and use smoothing groups. It looks like any other gutte unless you get really close. That's what I did for the guttering on the right building in this image (sorry if its a little dark). hot damn, at home it takes ~40 seconds to open hammer, on my laptop with a new ssd it takes less than 2.
You probably have a ton of textures/models on your desktop that it has to load as well ;o?
nope, i sync it via dropbox [t]http://i.imgur.com/fG4hXWJ.png[/t] this is only the extra content
While not being able to compile the full map at work - a cabin!

You should get an open stove if you could, with an orange glow thrown across the floor.
I like the subtle warmth of the lighting. You should get an open stove if you could, with an orange glow thrown across the floor.
i have a few stoves in the furniture store, people can decorate it themselves. dynamic lighting included! could look pretty good
Source is really pissing me off omg. Why don't cubemaps work anymore in any engine? They work in maps I did not make, but when I load up my map, in any of the engines (HL2, EP2, L4D2) building cube maps flat out do not work. It appears to build correctly, but nothing reflects anything. Its not the map or the textures I am using because it just started happening on all my maps on all versions of source...
You gotta delete the default cubemaps that the compiler puts in your map before buildcubemaps.
So how do I do that? With pakrat or bspedit or somthing? EDIT: Found a tutorial, thanks for tell me.

New to me, I'm guessing it won't work with current Source engine. Nice work! I know some of the textures are not very good. This is a replica of my lounge. I am actually doing my entire flat and the building, more screens will follow when I have done more work.

Working on a small 8-12 player DM map for Fistful of Frags. Sawmill setting. [t]http://i.imgur.com/87VBjvw.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Vc0TcqE.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/ul71LQe.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/vOJqDcJ.png[/t]
I made a pretty quick and small christmas light model, The units aren't really anything we use, 41.3 wide, so you will have to play with it, and hide stuff, but thought it might be useful for somebody.
