It's nice to see familiar-looking suburban maps in the mist of all these closed-in RP maps that take place in cities and countries that I've never been to, once in a while. I can't wait to give it a shot when you're done with it.

There are 7 dolls scattered around the map which need to be brought to the ritual zone. When they are placed there they burn and disappear followed by a screaming sound from the doll. Once you do all seven the map violently shakes while all around you can hear rumbling and creaking as the station falls apart and ceiling tiles start to fall/rain down around you, followed by an Innocent win as you've effectively "escaped" following the burning of all the dolls. Thought this would be an interesting play on the actual gamemode featured in the game itself. Light is what makes darkness interesting.[/QUOTE] You're absolutely right, but i'm going to to expand upon that. The player is drawn toward areas of high contrast, and In this case that'd be the light. If your level is going to have any progression to it(the player will have to traverse all, or most of the map), you should keep this in mind. In an outdoor map a dark dirty building surrounded by more dirty buildings will easily make the player feel lost if their goal is in within one of those buildings. Instead use a brightly colored, or a much larger building to make the goal more obvious, or at least stand out. Valve tends to put red lights above vents and doors to signal you that you should go there.In the example shown above, the player would just roam around in the dark if that light wasn't there. Whether or not your map has progression, this is good knowledge to have in my opinion.
The most important area is lit by quite a large amount of candles in order for players to always be drawn back to that spot, while other areas were left more dimmed to create a "barely lit/running" atmosphere. [t]http://i.imgur.com/2MCgQR1.jpg[/t] Although this can be better displayed from a different angle, the player on the ground roaming around mostly green and blue lit areas, can pick out this area as having a larger red/orange glow, drawing them back to the main objective part of the map. This was also something we tried to accomplish in the darkest areas of the map, such as this simple maintenance room entrance within a tunnel. [t]http://i.imgur.com/YEeTurU.jpg[/t] This is the darkest part of the map, however the exits to the area are the only parts lit (albeit somewhat weakly in the curve part), with the curve up ahead lit and the door lit to allow players to quickly find an exit to a very dark area. The game itself is (or it at least was in the Source version) played with only a flashlight in the base gamemode, and therefore much darker levels with bright lights around the ritual zones and other key areas were specified with only dimly lit areas in other areas to keep players out of total, total darkness. However this is only the old outdated Source Engine version of the map, as the game was moved to UE4 recently. Thank you for the advice regardless, as I will work on implementing that more effectively into my own personal projects as well.
I believe your fog is too saturated
Yeah, switching to colour correction would be more suitable if you're trying to tint it with a blue hue.

I did figure out how blend materials, specularity, normals, etc are translated from RAGE into 3ds Max to Source - however this almost definitely won't be released because I never figured out collision models. The design actually feels real as opposed to RP_ConvenientlyNestledCompactCitySurroundedByInsurmountableCliffs. I should also mention that I'm working on a [URL="http://steamcommunity.com/id/rush_freak/screenshot/884116608966291369"]pack of affordable consumer vehicles[/URL] (not Hotwheels) to be used as scenery and background props in maps. You may finally be giving me a proper place to use them. (They also have [URL="http://steamcommunity.com/id/rush_freak/screenshot/30729757420712476"]fake shadows as bodygroups[/URL] (among other features), so you dont need them to be prop_static if you don't want.) Just let me know if you ever want to test them out before they're done. I work slow, so don't expect a proper release for a while.
