[QUOTE=TurtleeyFP;46907468] A tip though, disable shadows on all of the flowers & shrubs, and I would change the skybox/lighting into overcast to bring out the colors - like office instead of militia.[/QUOTE] Way ahead of ya
For some reason I just remembered this edit of downtown waay back in the day (Maybe 2009/2010) Before the mass-production of downtown edits appeared. It was a full-fledged edit that turned it into a combine occupied city[insert number here]. It was gorgeous, and since garrysmod.org is down; I can't even find it on the workshop.
[QUOTE=Grenade Man;46899191]Its perhaps the most powerful entity when it comes to lighting in your level. Its the reason why firegods and oskutins maps had that unique look to them most of the time, I guess. Basically it controls hdr settings like bloom and autoexposure.[/QUOTE] I use the logic_auto entity to set up my tonemap entity. Bloomscale at 0, auto exposure minimum at 0, and auto exposure max at 2 or more. It gets me great results every time. The default bloom scale really fucks with everything, I hate it. It's usually what gets people those really blown out white areas when placing lights and such.

[QUOTE=circuitbawx;46906336]Added some stuff to my map here. What I'm aiming for is an urban rp map based off of a certain Swedish town that can hold a bunch of players comfortably. [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/ixfYj0I.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] View of the large apartment block from the wip park - 48 apartments inside (8 each on 6 floors), all occluded from the outside [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/hdmjmyM.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] The park itself, albeit with some major lighting issues :v: [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/W5PO4ad.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] A view of main street, on the pedestrian portion, I've yet to implement most of the lighting/shadow control and am saving major optimization stuff until I have a lot more built up With a norwegian flag added in [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/pFyOLNh.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] Current view from inside of an apartment overhang [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/P1cxZrW.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] An intersection on the western end of main street [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/Blc5ITB.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] Building with lighting issues [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/n6VD1GM.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/odseLJo.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] Real-world building I stole it from [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/MCCQ4ZS.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] Intersection on east main street [IMG_THUMB]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/32982655646804436/069D7A2102FDC02A0B9B4C1B388CF1023FE9BCD0/[/IMG_THUMB] Another older park view[/QUOTE] Looks really nice, reminds me a lot of rp_hometown2000. I'd suggest making the roads a little wider though.
You dont need to quote all the pictures :S
I just came to the conclusion that I never actually posted anything about Final Salvation (L4D2 campaign) which I've made with 2 other people. We're currently deciding if we're going to continue making the campaign or not since Both me and Goudvis are busy with college and other projects & Aawee is currently serving in the army for another year. Currently the map features: - A park with multiple paths - Full subway system with multiple stations, partially destroyed. We used our own made subway tracks since they are much higher quality than the ones from l4d2, also we needed our own props since we have an S shaped traintrack somewhere along the path. - Huge bridge with dynamic events & multiple paths to traverse it - Mall, again with multiple paths - All sorts of city buildings (bars, houses, appartments, shops, ...) Here's some pictures of WIP's (note: pictures are quite dated, I don't have the most recent compiles): [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/DdtUyeL.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/DfMGFgx.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/IiJzBL9.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/IyQ7UlJ.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/UwJD0rI.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/gf8D2p6.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/AVDDFkx.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/vFh50g1.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/tShwiEC.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1t4dboM.jpg[/img_thumb]
[QUOTE=ToasterCat;46914952]Looks really nice, reminds me a lot of rp_hometown2000. I'd suggest making the roads a little wider though.[/QUOTE] Totally forgot about one of my maps. Back in 2011-2012 I was working on a rp_hometown2011. I never [I]really[/I] finished it, and it still has a number of issues (Like optimization, missing textures). And I don't think I'm going to ever get around to finishing it. [t]http://s.gvid.me/s/2015/01/13/rphometown11_ovdate.png[/t] [t]http://s.gvid.me/s/2015/01/13/rp_hometown_20110000.png[/t] [t]http://s.gvid.me/s/2015/01/13/rp_hometown_20110001.png[/t] [t]http://s.gvid.me/s/2015/01/13/rp_hometown_20110003.png[/t] [t]http://s.gvid.me/s/2015/01/13/rp_hometown_20110002.png[/t] So I'm going to release the VMF is anyone is interested in finishing it / copying crap from it / science. I'd like to reiterate that a lot of the level design in it is really terrible, and should only reflect on my skill in 2012.
