Your scenery is extremely impressive, especially with all the details you added. I tried to do something similar a few years ago but couldn't quite get it right, this is how it looked:
This again!

Why not make the map into nightfall instead? You can still get a scary atmosphere with some moonlight, fog and light rain. The last chapter of Dear Esther utilizes some nice moonlight but you can definitely get away with a darker setting than that, but the current pitch blackness in your map with the flashlight as your only lightsource is just going to make it feel like you're running around in a maze. I think that will end up being frustrating but also boring. It's also a shame if the player can't see and enjoy your map that you spent your time working on. [editline]1st July 2013[/editline] With nightfall I mean something like this. [t]http://effusivewords.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/nightfall_1600.jpg[/t]

[t]http://i.imgur.com/A5ze1Vx.jpg[/t] how's this for a change?
I'd say that looks excellent, you may want to add a subtle purple fog though to blend in those distant trees with the skybox at least somewhat.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/4oYLlPl.jpg[/t] i have never been good with fog also this monitor makes all the colors really distinguishable, might be a problem for other monitors

I could see having an accent wall with the brick texture though.
I posted some shots yesterday, but there is some new content in these, and is generally more filled. It also has our fancy Crate models made by Az. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions from last page. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/N5q55Xr.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/gIy7ttA.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/BaI6gDj.jpg[/thumb]
I remember there was an official oil rig map a long time ago. I also remember Valve totally stole the layout of said oil rig map and used it for No Mercy's rooftop. But anyway your map looks super special fun.

Pretty neat way to have the title shown.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/N5q55Xr.jpg[/thumb]
Don't want to be no fun allowed, considering how unrealistic the terrorists spraypainting A and B all over their targets is already, but I have no idea how anybody could get all the way on that giant pole thing to spraypaint the letter A. Maybe add something to show how they got up there.

I do know that the towers that have no metal wrappings around them, IE the one with A sprayed on it will eventually be a model. I have toyed around with the idea having a ledge/catwalk around the structure with a peice of wood or something with A spray'ed on to it.
excuse the shitty in hammer shot ultraluxe is next.
Are those brushes or models?
is almost exactly how it appears in new vegas so i'd guess models, minus the background building
Are those brushes or models?
models. It would be incredibly time consuming to remake the area brushes
models. It would be incredibly time consuming to remake the area brushes
lighting is going to be shitty though unless you put that in CSGO I think
lighting is going to be shitty though unless you put that in CSGO I think
Pretty much, I might just go ahead and disable shadows then recreate some parts of it with light block textures.
well, here's mine small apartment project ~apartment image snips~
Your light textures are way to bright, you might want to mess around with your light.rad file.
Hey fellows, what about a new mapping competition ? I'd the idea of zombie maps for source games ? like left 4 dead, counter-strike (zombies maps), no more room in hell (if its still alive?), garry's mod and half-life series.. Ideas ?
lighting is going to be shitty though unless you put that in CSGO I think
Not really. Very many people jump to conclusions when it comes to models in source. In the example shown, where large buildings are models source will always light them properly if they are static models. They will also cast good shadows. Johnny just make sure the buildings are static models and compile VRAD with -StaticPropLighting and -StaticPropPolys.
