forgot to post the text. This is the newest version of the map redesigned from the feedback gathered from the mapcore playtest. Also very rough texturing. But yeah im still workng on how I want to do the support beams underneath, round is a neat idea.

Some progress, the exteriors have all been ported, I got to finish a few things like adding glows that toggle at night but other then that I can start on some roads as well as the interiors. These is too much open space like mentioned earlier, real oil rigs are very compact, as they are awfully expensive to build, so everything is as efficient as possible. Yours also has far too many of those random towers, real rigs normally have one tower for burning the natural gas, and it's located in the center, or extended out. In addition to that there are always cranes for handling cargo onboard. Your rig's foundation is also very unrealistic, as they usually have four huge concrete or metal pillars, sometimes even one as seen in the photo below. Also the whole thing is too thin, there needs to be room for the workers and the machinery. Take a look at reference pictures when designing your map, it really helps. The map you have now wouldn't be that much of a problem if it wasn't going to be an oil rig. If you're aiming on doing something specifig, you should really do it well. Yeah, right now it looks like a power plant or something. Aside from what was mentioned, have you thought about adding maybe some small boats around the Oil Rig?

Here some practice. I want to redesign the BTS area from Portal 2. Here is my first structural concept of the test Chambers. There is no cubemaps because portal 2 crash when i try to build it it is a normal compile. I am working on structural design not lighting yet.
