wow, soundscapes were cooler than i thought
no offence, but those soundscapes are fucking horrible.
There's no blending between them, and the transition between hallway and bathroom is ridiculously loud and jarring. I'd seriously suggest finding something less obvious.

You have to understand the background of his post. Just a week or so ago, he kept saying that soundscapes are too much work for not enough use and sparked an entire little argument. This just shows he gave it a chance to improve as a mapper, as many others criticized.
But yeah, there's much room for improvement.

very nice
though I would change the floor to something that lines up with the hallway
Working on a big bridge or shuttle landing pad thing. Not sure which yet, but it's designed for use in SFM.

vines look like butts at the moment because I didn't compile with -staticproppolys, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with this so far
Jesus, this looks very cool. Never seen anything like it before!

The last thing I want to do is have you guys feel like I've copied you in any way though because I really respect all the great work you've done on your stuff, so I'll probably end up trying to find an entirely new style myself.

I think you could do a bunch of different things that can take the general idea of GMod Tower with enough artistic liberty to make it awesome/original:
- An outside mall where each game is it's own store
- An arcade where each game has it's own machine
- A "city"
I added more props.

I think I'm pretty much done with my new set of road parts:
[T]http://i.imgur.com/cgtSd74.jpg[/T]
They'll be used in a new york inspired city map project that I'm working on.

What I'm planning to do next is upgrade the massive John Freeman Statue of Liberty model I made for the map's prototype, the texture and model isn't that great.

I was actually thinking about having it be an outdoors resort with different buildings for the arcade, casino and so on. I'm in the process of making the layout so I actually have a plan of what I want to make, thanks for the ideas btw.

It's a map for a gamemode that's somewhat similar to GMTower, but I'm not entirely sure where to go from here.
I mean, I tried something like this earlier:
[t]http://puu.sh/3YOjh.jpg[/t]
[t]http://puu.sh/3YOjX.jpg[/t]
But then I decided that it was silly to have free-floating walkways like that if there was ever supposed to be any stores/shops below them. Any ideas?
I like the idea, to remove the Free-floating walkway, I would recommend you to make some huge windows panel at the bottom and the top. I do not know your first intention for the area, but I would see it as an entrance/exit to a terrace. Adding a few pillars would look good as well. Then make one or two arches using the pillars to make a support for the ceiling. Some nice windows on the ceiling would look good as well.
Adding a few stairs too!
but since I don't know what this place is supposed to be, I can only give my opinion
I've started up setting up the roads for my city map:

Some parts like the bridge will definitely be redone in the future.

Looks good, you inspired me to layout my map like that too...How big is it?
Meanwhile.. I finally decided to create entrance to that tunnel I was creating

What textures are those? Custom or exported from another game?

I really like it, but the graffiti seems a little excessive.

Walls are mostly from L4D2 or from GTA IV textures pack from garrysmod.org

It feels alot more subtle in game, but i might tone it down a bit
Did my best to make it look like a forest but I think I failed miserably.

It's not THAT bad sure the trees could be a bit higher or lower so they're not the same height initially but it looks fine otherwise.

That looks very much stunning. The first map of its kind I believe.
However I have to say your choice of detail sprites is pretty poor and the caves look pretty bad when compared to the rest of the map (especially the last picture.)
I think the map would also benefit a lot from some $blendmodulatetexture's and maybe $seamless scale if you can get it to look right. (especially in the caves)

Those props look fantastic do you have any links for downloading them? Mostly the foliage that I'm interested in.

before/after
earlier there were invisible walls everywhere, now there are fences everywhere instead.
though there's no tree model with collisions, that's a shame
reworked the starting area. fullscreen for best viewing.
invisible walls? are you sure you just couldn't tell they were there? :v:

made a lot of improvements with the node map, and added more rooms to everything
