I'm sticking with gm_botmap_v2, and here are three good reasons why: - I don't have EP2, EP1, or actually HL2 (I run GMod on Portal and CSS) - You took out all of the features that made gm_botmap cool anyways - I don't really give a crap about how it looks. IT'S A BUILD MAP, NOT AN RP MAP.
I love the map, but my friends don't have episode 2. I've seen some maps that have the Episode 1 and 2 textures in the map file. Can you do something like that? If no then ok.
After playing around with it a bit, I'm kinda disappointed. None of the original things for gm_botmap 2 that made it so popular are left, now it's just overcomplicated with trees and lakes. You should seriously consider calling this map gm_botmap_forest or something. The next botmap should be THE botmap2 map but with new features. If you restart the map it's not the same map. I gotta admit, the map IS really pretty though. It just doesn't feel like a build map that much.
Looks great. I don't have Ep1 or 2 yet, but I will in about 3 weeks.:dance: I'll definitely download it then.

Normally people wouldn't complain about NOT having those kinds of things. I think it's all the same, if not restricting, since a build zone is a build zone. Private build rooms can be replaced by admins.

I'm not quite sure how he fixed it, but I think it was something that he re-installed. Also the waterfall is a particle effect, nothing to do with the water at all. The reason it's called gm_botmap_v3 is because it's easier to see what version of the map you're downloading, if I called it gm_botmap_forest people would get confused over weather this is updated or not. A massive improvement. It's a shame the cliffs look like bricks. And I've never seen a tree that grows directly under a cliff. And none of the trees actually cast a shadow. So realism, not really. But, I really do love the lighting and overall feel the map's got. The lighting is great and the brushwork isn't bad either. By the time you reach V9, the map should be awesome. :v:

The only reason it's not blocking the entities is because you're inside the brush that blocks it, if you're inside it it can't do anything as it can't process where you are in relation to the entities. By the time you reach V9, the map should be awesome. :v:[/QUOTE] Making the trees cast shadows would mean I'd have to decrease the lightmap scale, which even on 3GB of RAM would make me run out, causing it to completely fail. I didn't want to have too many displacements either, since they can't be hidden with the method I'm using, and I was optimising as much as I could, which after some comments obviously still isn't as good as it probably could've been. Also the cliffs that look like bricks are probably the one's that don't align right, and I've had to compromise somewhere.
thingshappen, you should've made the availability to switch tracks(not talking the intersections). Longer trains aren't really favorable for this map because of the short turntable. I understand that you may've had no room for a longer turntable. But this map needed switching between tracks to recouple for longer trains.

But this map needed switching between tracks to recouple for longer trains.[/QUOTE] There is switching for trains, I just forgot to point it out on the map, if you take a look at it, head to station 1 and go in the direction of station 5, on the way there you should see a signal in the middle of the tracks, this allows for switching onto other tracks and back again.

I won't lie when I say I wasn't fond of the first 2. I didn't like the plain flat-grassy look to them, but I'm [i]really[/i] liking the look of this one. I appreciate the new take on a build map, and that as a mapper, you've seemed to branched out a bit more. Congrats, got my download. :4chan:

That's happens when your video card overheats. Well it does for me. Or does it happen everytime you go on the map? Tried different servers? SP?
Sconza, that is Issue on most of ATI videocards, it happened with me in L4d too, try to use methods like we used here - [url]http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=638929[/url] worked for me

HOLY SHIT! IT'S RELEASED! This is great! Everybody spam him mapping kings! Edit: I must make a rocket, right? I made one, but then i have to use thrusters to make it fly. I don't know why it didn't work, do you have to wire something? Or use the console?

I have EP2 mounted but there's still huge missing textures in the indoor building areas. So you DO need Episode 1 also. come on, AT LEAST add the ep1 textures in the map, jeez.
Glad to see this map out, thingshappen. I was playing on your server yesterday and had tons of fun with the missile silo. Kinda lags... At a steady 10-20 FPS. But the server needs fixing or something.. 'Cause there's points where the server just randomly stops responding for a few seconds then comes back, and this map will soon be on the Friendly Players Fun Build server! Anybody who would like to go there here is the I.P: 94.76.195.39:27015 That server doesn't have random lag spikes. Good luck fixing your server on that. ;)
