Co op, micronations is fine with me.
How a ASW-based competition? You know, to breaking ASW Mapping. One rule could be that you can't just use a TileGen map, it has to has detail, and all that.

Please don't. I don't haven't even tried it yet.
Not tilegen its not really that creative compared to using hammer.

It's really nothing new in terms of mapping, all you have really is a handful of new entities.
Please don't say we are using tilegen, if we are i'm out.....
Just plain old collaborative mapping would be awesome, or an abstract theme.
^ sibmoR ^
I like the idea of micronations and collaborative.
Yep sibmoR, I noticed nobody has commented on it, I don't blame them, it's not the best to my ability I believe, if I spend a month on it, it will be trippy as fuck, also Rombis my good man, I shan't be on tonight, going out for my friends 18th, to a nightclub :ohdear:
Oh :\ Well be carefull my friend. The release sections doesn't get so many views as this area maybe give it a little time and the thread will be back and kicking.
Yeah you never no, cheers for the good luck :frown:

Once all the current competitions are out of the way a collab or an abstract competition would be awesome.
Don't half to use TileGen.
Yeah but you can only use TileGen for Alien Swarm and I think most people here want to do Co op Micronations.
What about a competition where a pack of textures is given, and you can only use the textures in that pack. Whoever uses these the most creatively wins.
Or a contest similar to that of TF2's art pass competition. A default map layout is made. People have to detail it and do other things to it. There wouldn't be too many limits like the TF2 contest. You could add in a lot more stuff if you wished. I think it would be interesting, though, to see the layout applied to different games in many different ways.
Just my two cents
No offence Blah360, but I don't really like either of those ideas.
Blah360's second idea is a great idea in my opinion.
But a basic, easy contest would be good for beginner mappers like me.

That would be a bit limiting.
So when is this going to take place? Hopefully this year, right?
I'd guess when the current compettition is over.
I was thinking of making a group project, rather than a competition, where each person makes a room with a Saw type trap. Are there too many things like that going on or should I post it?
Well we have the community houce at the moment so I would wait till that is done.
I don't know if that'll ever finish considering the speed it's going, but I'll wait a bit.
Well either way I wouldn't make a thread because you will get moaned at.
Rombis is right, people will moan at you just wait
Ha. If you wait, it'll never happen, because someone else will start a competition before this ends and you'll wait for that, then you'll wait for the next one.. and the next. Sometimes in mapping it has to be a case of fuck what other people think, if people like the idea of the competition they'll join it.

I'm sure the community houce will pick up speed after the single player competition is done, I know I'm holding back on the houce until I enter my submission, and I'm sure others are doing the same.
Make a map.
And release it for download.
I think I speak for everyone when I say this is the best idea ever.
Why?
Because no-one ever fucking releases the work they've finished. I don't see why they don't to be honest. It would be pretty fun to see it in-game.

I don't even finish my maps.

So true, it's almost painful to trawl though old projects and see all the work that'll never see the light of day at times...
I don't even finish my maps.
Agree. I have 120 unfinished maps in my folder, going back to August last year.
