My friend's computer refused to start up. I went over there and opened up the case and cleaned out the hardware. It started up fine after I did.
Source SDK update? In MY lifetime? :woop:
Well, you know, it already was updated with the Sculpt/Instancing/Manifest tool. So, it's not like it's never updated.
i have one word for this (User was banned for this post ("Image Macro" - Terrenteller))
If you are all going crazy about this, whats gunna happen when Portal 2 gets released and Episode 3 and you get that SDK with all of those new features. Sucks I am leaving for basic training Monday... Maybe I will wake up early =\ Well I guess when I get back from basic training there will be ALOT of new stuff for me to see.
lol if you think EP3 will be released [editline]05:05PM[/editline] this is Valve's response to the UDK
lol if you think EP3 will be released [editline]05:05PM[/editline] this is Valve's response to the UDK
Yea there response ... In VALVe Time.
lol that's what they say when they want to charge you a huge amount of money when the problem is something simple like overheating
The guy was relatively nice and because he was local he knocked a bit off the price. [editline]07:40AM[/editline] Unless he's cunning and he started high to start with... :ninja:
This could hardly be called a response to something. Source used to be cutting edge when it was previewed and later used in HL2 in 2005, now it is everything but cutting edge. I just think that for the sake of the modding community, Valve should keep the Source engine on par with other modern engines.
It's better than engines like Halo 3's and Modern Warfare's... So it's not that bad.
It's better than engines like Halo 3's and Modern Warfare's... So it's not that bad.
Hey you do know that Halo Reach is the new halo? With still no AA.
My friend's computer refused to start up. I went over there and opened up the case and cleaned out the hardware. The dust doesn't physically get into the hardware and fuck it up, it doesn't screw with electrical connections because they are either circuit board soldered connections or a plug which has been in constant contact, therefore not allowing dust to get in. [editline]08:16AM[/editline]
Unless he's cunning and he started high to start with... :ninja:
Probably did. When you go to pick it up, ask him exactly what was wrong then post it in the hardware section and see if it was worth what you paid.
However it clogs up the fans and airholes.
However it clogs up the fans and airholes.
It also warms up the top of the graphicscard if it becomes a thick layer so no cold air can come through there.
Hey you do know that Halo Reach is the new halo? With still no AA.
You and my brother are obsessed with Halo :suicide: Oh yeah, and it probably has AA, every console has about 4x AA.
You and my brother are obsessed with Halo :suicide: Oh yeah, and it probably has AA, every console has about 4x AA.
Halo 3 did not so Halo Reach doubtfully has.
I feel like they've made the level editor less idiot proof, to me it seems like they've just gone to the actual skillful mappers and said "We know you've got talent, we really like what you've done, so here's an editor that does the complete opposite" I don't know why but I see the tile based map generation as a bad thing.
Oh don't worry, I bet you that tile generating the map will have bugs.
do you think it will affect Garrysmod?
Probably not for a while.
Oh well, im looking for the update.
If it has the option to use the standard HL2/Source perspective and weapons then this is going to be fucking incredible.
I hope it comes with proper tools to bring models into/out of Source because all we have right now is old tools that like to glitch and were made by community members.
entity limit can go to 300%.
Assuming we're talking about entdata, it can go to 300,000% for all the engine cares. It's not actually capped, it's just a 300kb 'warning' Valve put in. Some of Valve's own maps in HL2 overran it, and I'm sure some of the TF2 maps do. [editline]09:45AM[/editline] Stop using your buggy community tools and the ones Valve provided work just fine. I mean hell, I compiled a model on the first try yesterday with proper collision model, skins working, and no errors.

(read that from the steam forums, written by a valve employee.
The third party model compilers eventually use valve's studiomdl to compile anyway.
If I enjoy Alien Swarm I might make some maps for it. As for the whole tile generation thing, I imagine if you give it options and it generates a level, it will somewhat be repetative, so Valve reccommend you import it into Hammer and change add/remove stuff to keep it fresh.
So will these features only work in Alien Swarm or of all Source stuff?

All
so wait, does that mean i can make a map using EP2 and have all the new features?
You might have to make a mod of it, but probably that will be the case. I'm gonna try and take some of the sdk maps (like the train station for hl2) and convert it to see how it looks after I do a day/night cycle.

So, one can use unlimited entdata but there's still a maximum number of entities useable? http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Entity_limit
