If the new omni directional lightning entity is limited to Alien Swarm I guess you could port it since they're supplying the server.dll source code.

I don't think so. Most entities are located in server.dll when modifying the Hl2 code, at least

You need to read for once. That was issued on HL coders mail list. It's not in Alien Swarm, it's just possible to make an omni-directional light if you were to code it into your own mod.
As far as dynamic lights in general in the update, read my post above, or just right below since I don't have enough faith in you guys to look a few post above.

Dynamic light info on this page. And like I predicted, it's still shit and still must be used ever sparingly. They only use 6 on one of their own maps. The USA - Phoenix server also seems to be extremely fast.
This game runs amazing. Valve did a great job optimizing this.
New things in hammer is that there is a export to Miya tool. That's one thing.
