Lol, I have to admit an atom bomb inside of an already post apocalyptic setting was the last thing I expected, but it was a really nice high point and did well with the music.
Very nice clip you've made there, it seems this isn't your first time either (like W4NRO).
I wanted to show a preview of my trailer how it so far, to get some tips, but DIRECTLY after upload to youtube it was blocked, because of UMG.
They didn't want me to use the music I used as background.
But immediately after upload! And I set it first to private! ... that was damn fast. :keke:
yeah, youtube is sucky because of that :(
Oh jesus, I played this map again and I heard a man (not a zombie :uhoh: ) screaming in pain in the distance.
Hulp me.
! C:\GMod\Temporary DL Gathers\gm_atomic.zip.zip: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged
Happened when I tried to unzip. Could someone upload a mirror? garrysmod.org does it to alot of files.

Try to download it with Internet Explorer, happends also for me when I use Firefox 3 for download!
Doesn't work. Just tried it with IE and I have the same problem as AlfieGroove.
It's a problem with garrysmod itself, you just have to wait a little while and try again. Happens all the time.
Well I tried it yesterday and had the same problem...
Best map ever.
EVER
Edit:
ever
Makes the wait for Fallout 3 oh so bearable.
King'd.
Can someone upload the map somewhere else?
Gmod.org has download problems.
This reminds me of a play my dad wrote! It was about the Chernobyl disaster. Small world, I guess.
@ Ec0x: Did you install the materials correctly?
Jeez, who would've thought that editing video can be so difficult and exhausting!
I finally finished the fantrailer, or what's more likely: I ran out of steam. :keke:
The hardest part was to put all of the single clips together in such a manner that they fill the whole length of the song.
Didn't have enough video material though, therefore I somewhat "cheated" by shortening the song.
I cut the song between 2 refrains with the same text and "glued" them together, hoping nobody recognizes the cuts later on.
*Phew*, that was a hassle. That really thought me to have even more respect for those making superb trailers!
The music I chose is one of the songs from the radios ingame. I thought it fits very well in there.
Oh yeah, and one other thing: While gathering video material and adding (apparently) too much graphic effects, at the end of my video gethering session the "Out of OS page memory" message appeared in the top right corner of my screen.
Because I was way too tired and lazy, I didn't re-record these parts but just used them how they were, sorry for that.
It's not really that much annoying anyway and since this is my very first trailer, I hope you don't mind me being a bit lazy. ;)
Ok then, because YouTube didn't want me to publish it with the song, I uploaded it to vimeo, hoping they at least don't ban it from the start.
So here you go:
The quality is really crappy though and it has a few glitches.
Therefore I uploaded the original video for all of you hardcore fans who want the original resolution in all its glory (and filesize)! :D
Get it here (100 MB):
It's way better than the online version, it's really worth the quality change.
Comparison:
EDIT: I just found out that you can download the source video on vimeo itself as well, but you have to be logged in first. Use the other download link for filefactory if you don't want to register with vimeo.
THIS IS SO CHERNOBL
its exactly like the chernobl incident where (if you didnt know already :p) there was a nuclear meltdown and the place was bathed in radiation. ATM "The Zone" isnt to deadly for short ammounts of time but as you get closer to the heart, im gessing your probably start to glow at nights
anyway AWSOME MAP

Great for a first, might I suggest this tool:

Yeah, I didn't notice there was a tool, when I gathered video resource material. That was around the time before W4NRO posted his trailer.
And being a lazy person I didn't want to do it all over again.
But thanks for the tip anyways, the next time this'll come in very handy. :keke:
:4chan:
You sir, are the king of map making. Utterly amazing map.
Now for the love of god, make a huge cs_assualt style city; only your skill alone would make it epic. :D
The way the road is on this map, makes me wish it was bigger. I wanted to drive on past the old tanker and past the buildings that are falling down. When I was saw the buildings, I said "Sweet!" and went full speed towards them just to hit an invisible wall. Still, this map rocks.
By the way, I found the gnome, but he is an error. What is his model?
Edit
Nevermind, found the model.

Next time you should try to hide the upper right corner. ;)

Hey thanks, I hope this one works.
Next time you should try to hide the upper right corner. ;)
I didn't bother to. ;)
Whoa. Looks awesome! Gives me Fallout-vibes - esspecially after watching "Alone". Gotta try it now! :)
This map is awesome.
last couple of days, I have been on a few DarkRP servers using it, And I have to say that role playing in a Post-Apocalyptic setting is awesome. Makes me want to get Fallout 3 so much more.
Mapping King and kudos to you if you can somehow manage to trump this contribution to the community.
I'm normally very shy about showing my work to a larger audience, and compared to yours it's not as good I would say. Although we are working in two different genres (yours being a trailer).

Good job :P
at the very start where the camera is moving, I had made a clip where the camera moved in the exact same direction but didn't add it in. I had like 7 starting clips, it was hard to choose which one would be first
I love the clouds, even though you(not you[the reader] specifically of course) don't really think about them, it is one of those things your eyes notice and it adds to the map quality dramatically, I need to get out from under my 7300 tho.
This map gave me the scariest feeling of isolation ever. The random noises made me think something was going to pop out of nowhere, so i would look into every window i could. It wasn't much help though, as they were all dirty and stuff, which made the map even more realistic. The music on the radios would be great for making a video. It would be cool if there were like resistance members in the camp, and if it could turn night, things would gradually start to come out. I know thats not going to happen, but great map anyway.
Nice map, but do you think my laptop will run it? Specs: Intel 1.6 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, and a 128MB Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS.

That does not look anything like Chernobyl. It's an awesome map, but it does not look like the real Chernobyl. Also radiation does not glow, it is completely invisible. Although there was one circumstance that looking at a field of abandoned vehicles in Chernobyl that field would emit slight amounts of light. Only at sundown. Also Chernobyl is not a desert, it's primarily woodland. You can stand in front of the Chernobyl power plant and receive little radiation. Since all the radioactive fallout at the Chernobyl power plant was either buried under one metre of soil or shut in the sarcophagus.
Oh god, I went into the crater and heard the sad music.
