What, so you don't need to haul 30 tons of Iron around? I was thinking about a bank exchange system for giving out cards with a certain amount of credit on it, but I don't know if it's all that useful. I mean the bars and barrels are pretty compact as it is.
I meant for buying gas. Or having restockable vending machines.
Restockable vending machines? That sounds like a very good idea, I wish they would add soda as a edible item for hungermod.
What I would like (if released), is a huge underground mine system, with an old mining camp & elevator, with woodpillars holding stuff up and such, with realistic lightning aswell, and maybe an underground river floating at the bottom of the mine, could make an awesome manufacturing gamemode.

I have an idea. You could also put larger amounts of like iron underground, connected to the Antlion nests but also connected by a hole to the outside. So you can Either A. build a contraption so you can get down, harvest and back up (and you barricade the tunnel) or B. run through the Antlion nest. You could also make harvesting acid harder by making smashing the nests cause antlions to unburrow and attack.

I want a very free form interconnecting, wile still contained, underground mining map. No epic underground city centers but are instead spread out around the mine's many shafts an corridors. Some parts will be very bunker like while other areas will have bare rock next buildings and covering small streets and alleyways. so it would be as if you tore a city apart and scattered the buildings along underground passages. I don't think I'm going to make a wip but I might post some pictures when I get more work done.
Restockable vending machines? That sounds like a very good idea, I wish they would add soda as a edible item for hungermod.
I don't know for a fact but isn't it relatively easy to add edible s to the list? If not I think beer and wine bottles are edible so I can have those be dispensed. I like the idea of a restockable vending machine, and I think it could be done a lot like the weapon system. Let's say the final product is a edible bottle, so you would have to grow the fruit/sugar and add water into a big stir vat. After some amount of time a crate of the drinks would be dispensed, and then that could be sold to restaurants or bars for roleplay money. The restaurants or owners would empty the crate into a vending machine which they can then access easily each time a customer comes by to purchase something to drink. Other foods could be grown by planting seeds (that would be collected from around the caves I suppose) and putting them into some soil. You then irrigate the plot of land were you planted (predetermined grow area) the seeds, and after this nice round and ripe melons would grow out of the ground (yeah melons they grow on vines i.e. the ground). The grow effect would probably just be them slowly popping out of the ground, or breaking the ground to retrieve the melon (the ground would then respawn automatically when you put a seed in). An added bonus I could imagine being useful is manufacturing some kind of fertilizer to speed up the whole process. If roleplay mods use s other then the beer and wine ones for drinks, and if they use the win and beer for products the yield more food, then I could make a whole alcohol brewing process. It would practically be the same as the old system but instead of going from the vats to crates they would turn out wine barrels which you need to age before you can break them in some machine for the crate of boos. Anyways if you read this huge block of text you should tell me which of the systems is worth going into. Right now I think the food and drink systems would be useful in rp, and relatively easy to make while demanding few entities. The alcohol system seems ridiculous and unnecessary because I don't know of any mods that have any use for them, and if they do I don't think it's worth going through all the effort to do so.
I love you Spacew00t.
Just remember Spacew00t, You gotta let people catch up. Get this car/mining system pretty much good to go before embarking on farming.
Right now I'm working on the actual level, so I might take a break some time in the future to do the farming part. The mining car stuff is pretty much perfected for the most part, just the brushwork and stuff needs to be redone. Implementing space that is useful for traveling with vehicles will be hard underground, but I'll see what I can do.
Make some kind of transporting system for a large map , where each industry of weapons , car parts etc can trade with money for resources. Also great systems you made here. I can see loads of logic entities :).
I think you need some sparks when you put things on your car :) And maybe a "counter" for that melter so you can see on a screen what ores you need and what you have put in. Your systems is amazing! Finally we have something to do in multiplayer! You have found a new way to play Source. I'm impressed.
Can you give us a wicked-cool mine cart ride? I always imagined myself being chased by a scimitar-weilding Arab through a Spacew00t mine...
I'll be the arab, you be the mine. Just kidding Maloof, I just want to be inside you :ninja:
Um... :geno:
Yeah mine carts are on the list.
I could spend a lot of time purely making piles among piles of bars.
this is very cool
I could spend a lot of time purely making piles among piles of bars.
Then sell them :D
Nice!
Nice Spacew00t, very nice. I've added you on steam friends, It's Elementality by the way...
Then sell them :D
Even if just released as-is in the small area there is, I'd still spend lots of time playing with it.
Wow! You should E-mail VALVe, something like this, only used differently in Half-Life's future games would be amazing. My god! Why aren't you working at VALVe?!
Are you going to release a beta? You better or bad things will happen, he he he. But seriously, are you going to release a beta?
Maybe you could have a giant laser/drill with destroy able rock in front of it, but make the laser/drill VERY hard to power, so when they reach the end, they get a secret underground city/Atlantis thing. Maybe add more than the usual amount of resources and put in laser grids for defence. I hope you can make a gamemode for this, prop protection and a trading system would be nice. Maybe the ability to set items up for sale, people can walk up to them and purchase them whenever they want. I like the first idea. You could use the CS model for the case of beer.
Oh that's a good idea for the case of beer, I'll remember that.
Woot, did you get my PM?
*bump* I love this thread, idea, and spacew00t too much for it to die... yet. I'm just joking, but if I keep it alive, we might get an update.
Can you give us : FGD's Or PRESETS For it incase we want to implement it in our maps?
Can you give us : FGD's Or PRESETS For it incase we want to implement it in our maps?
I don't think you know what either of those words mean, or what this is.
I don't even know what that means. But I want a tutorial on how to make this. Do moderators get bonus smartness? You have over 28400 smartness.
