No, I post a lot. And there aren't any tutorials, this is complex entity work which can be done when you understand the entity system well enough.
Do you mean that this uses a lot triggers and actions? I have a basic understanding of that, but I think I could figure out how to make something along these lines with some more experience. I just want to learn LUA so I can make those neat little displays that he uses.
Is this what will be used for the Terraformer in Spacebuild?
Wow, the gold idea kinda reminds me of World of Warcraft's mining system. :P

I love you. Your "art" style for the factories is perfect and they all look amazing. (Although, I would make the doors on the refinery open on a pivoting system instead of just sliding.) If you want ideas on other things you could make, look no further than Cerberus: infestation. It's got a factory in it that lets you make explosives, mines, etc. Ideas for things you can make: Large explosive: (A brush entity) 10 second timer when activated (blinky red light?) and then explodes. Duh. Ingredients: 2x sulfer barrels Land mine: When activated, it will explode if anything touches the top. Ingredients: 1x iron 1x sulfer Turret: Shoots if npc or player stands in front of it. Reloaded with ammo crates. Ingredients: 1x battery 2x iron 2x steel Load/reload 1x ammo crate (a use for it other than creating guns) That's all I can think of right now, i'll post if I can think of anything more.
Well, If you think about it, once the prefabs are released you can modify them to fit your map.
And how to not love you dude?
Can you give us the VMF for it incase we want to implement it in our maps?
Fixed :science:
Bump for epicness. I want this released!
Well, If you think about it, once the prefabs are released you can modify them to fit your map.
I think I might just make a tutorial. It's a exercise in entity work, and that is an important part of mapping. I never used prefabs when I was learning how to map, and not many tutorials either, but I don't think there's much use in releasing a prefab if it's going to be cut and pasted into someones map. I would hope that it would only be used for educational purposes, but I don't think some noobs can resist just plopping it in their map. Maybe what would be best is to release the prefabs in a separate fashion from the tutorials. Maybe have tutorials and prefabs for display screens or the smelter alone, but then another tutorial on making the display screens work with the mining process or whatnot. Whatever it is I have some time before worrying about that stuff. Right now I'm taking a bit of a break from mapping and I'll work on the mining map when I get back.
Well, It's like the weapon crate spawner, you could modify that so you load hte supplies into a chute, it whirrs then makes hte weapon.

What he said.
Right now I'm taking a bit of a break from mapping and I'll work on the mining map when I get back.
Wow awesome... You looking for testers too find bugs or whatever?
When will this be released? I can't wait for this. :D
Well Spacew00t has disappeared v:)v
Spacew00t, come back now!!We need a entity king here and now! :tizzy: Just, please, i want to play a map with these features, can you end it? Please? I am just too lazy to make one of my own :q:
Well Spacew00t has disappeared v:)v
He's magic.
Fuck yes he is, he made this, he obviously has a pact with the devil. 'Watch out for "Hell's construct"'
Ok I just have to say that you have been a huge inspiration to me and I'm sure many others and that all of your work is absolutely amazing. I wish I had even half the smarts you had when you designed that whole system. By the way I also really enjoyed hometown. Sorry to edit right after the post but I was also wondering if you had released any tutorials on all of that work that you said is done in hammer?
So he went down to the Crossroads and struck a deal with the Devil to give him supercool mapping powers? I doubt it. He really should release this though.
seems like i'm not the only one that have survived the epicness of this, even though the rest of the world lies (lays?) in ruins :(... :krad:
I'm in awe. :v: It makes me start up Hammer once again. I had no idea that this was even possible in Hammer. Yeah, i was like: "Where the hell did he learn that?" I'm not going to ask you how you did that or ask questions like: "Oh my god? are there tutorials about this? Teach me, please!" And things like that. Just one question: how long did it take for you to get a grip on all those entities in Hammer? Fantabulous work, dude. I can't believe what i'm seeing. :excited:
Where's he gone , No! Do not leave us alone! ... we cannot be trusted v:)v
Sorry guys, I killed him, and ripped the hammer out of his heart, and sewed it into mine.
Anyone got an idea on how that SHGUI is done? I'd like to know. :v:
Buttons and enable/disable func brushes. Or possibly a texturetoggle with an animated texture, which works better.
Hey lord Ned, did I see you on the dead frontier website?
I dunno, what's Dead Frontier?
