It will be released sometime soon, but I've been so busy so I can't really work on it until summer. I rewatched the videos I made a wile ago and realized how horrendously confusing it is. I made a diagram that I hope will explain the process involved in making a car engine. So it's basically: ores - iron, coal <smelter> refined ores - iron bar, coal crate <smelter> combined refined ore - steel <MMM> Final product - Car Engine So the smelter can refine ores and combine the refined ores, too. Then the MMM uses the refined ores and combinations of them to produce usable products.
wow :0 i need this bad! not to play on a map but put into my map's :v: spacew00t i have to say you are my figure of god. hallahulah :D also i will asume that when this is released the DHBV will be released at the same time :) you have simply changed RP forever :v:
it's not just Spacew00t, it's the whole idea of resource requiring systems that has completely changed mapping, Spacew00t is just one on the main contributers to this fascinating new process.
I like to think I'm the munchkin in lead with my pants on backwards. :v:
yes but this one's different because for one it's Rp and second it makes it like a RPG :v:
any idea when this will be released or can you at least some tutorials so us mapping dumbasses (no offence to anyone who can map worth a shit)
Beta please? :P
pretty please?
I'm working on a map with it, and I'll make a tut too when I can get some time.
put the ores in deep caves. I like the sound of having to travel far to get the minerals. ;)
so are you going to make prefab's or a tutorial? either is fine but i would like to know :v: either way this is going i'm my rp map im making :D
Tutorial, I'm not saying that you would do this, but I know people who would blindly add it into their maps. It's helpful to teach a mapper how to really work with entities, even if you already know how to use them. I certainly learned a lot by making this.
Tutorial! :4chan: Any chance you could release that demo map of your touchscreen displays? The one that shows the apartment?
I use those in this map too, and I will make a tut of that, too. I might release the sample vmf with it but it's kind of confusing.
I thought it was an interesting concept, did you use func_wall_toggles or something, combined with buttons which lock and unlock?
i can't wait for the tutorial, almost everything i know about hammer is from tutorial's :v:
i can't wait for the tutorial, almost everything i know about hammer is from tutorial's :v:
You were born without the ability to map? Now that's odd! I love tuts, although writing them can be hard.
You were born without the ability to map? Now that's odd!
lol what do you mean by that? sarcasm :v: well some people learn from just experimenting :D well anywho this tutorial will amazing! Edit: but i have a feeling spacew00t that you were born with the abillity to map :v:
What entities did you use, I'm wondering if I just fool around for a little i might just be able to figure it out :D Edit: Spacew00t, you are my idol :D
Can the wire target finder find physboxes ?
How about oil refiring and pumping? Edit: 1. you need make a barrel and drill out of iron/steel. 2. put drill to the oil tower and barrel to pump. 3. start pumping. 4. put oil barrel to refinery tower and wait. 5. you should get different types of oil/gas. Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_refinery
Yeah, instead of the refinery just randomly making the barrels to go to the gas station like it is now, you should have to make the oil.
My map currently has oil which you can spawn and either turn it into plastic or refine it into fuel.

I'll probably make it so that you need to reuse old barrels or fill up a tanker that you hitch up to your truck. I want to save ent data, and I don't think a whole new process for making oil is necessary. At most you'll need to turn the crude oil into refined oil by moving it into a new receptacle and then take out the barrel when it's done. I'm trying to keep the process involving, but not boring, so no more than two or three minutes should be spent going from raw extract to refined product ready to be used in the manufacturing of a final object with really uses (car parts, healthkits, etc). Anyone resourceful enough (no pun intended) to set up a steady delivery business for oil could make a lot of money.
My map currently has oil which you can spawn and either turn it into plastic or refine it into fuel.
Yeah thats pretty much the exact same, except oil in my system is only respawned periodically.
Can the wire target finder find physboxes ?
I don't know, and I can't see the advantage for it either.
Spacew00t, you just have to add a big mine (tunnel, cave). Would be so awesome to actually search for the minerals you need. Pretty much like the cave you have now, but bigger. Oh, and a tutorial for this would be great aswell. :keke:

Edit: He is making a tutorial when he is done with the map it will be in, i personally can't wait any more :4chan:
I've figured most of this out, but not all of it. I don't see how the ore/resources spawn EVERY FEW times you hit it, I've only gotten it to be that they spawn every time you hit it once. Anyways, good job! This is amazing, I can't wait for the tutorial and your map to come out.
A func break and then a point template.
A func break and then a point template.
I have a func_button with: _________________________ OnDamaged irontemplate ForceSpawn _________________________ A point template named irontemplate with the following templates: _________________________ Template 1: iron // This is the iron resource used for stuff _________________________ Edit: When I compile that map I get the error: "The system cannot find the file specified." Error: displacement found on a(n) func_button entity - not supported bingo there's your problem
