it's art at the end of the day, what are you going to set restrictions on art pieces? no
Of course you could tweak that to "I agree that I have contributed time to test out the map first and fixed all or most painful obvious pitfalls of the map before releasing it."
Just stop now. Everything you are suggesting is not enforceable in any way shape or form. You are also preaching to the choir here, most fullbright maps are not released on the forums.

By the way, from the looks of the pic you posted up the page, you're not exactly producing stellar maps. In fact, I don't recall seeing any of your releases.
We need to call in a WAAAMbulance on this one, folks.

This. OP is digging a deeper hole. Put the spade down and admit your fault.

Not to come off as an asshole but I don't think any of them serve as an example for a really bad / really good map.
HOLY SHIT is that source?
How the fuck is that not Source? It's a god damn dark room and that's it. Really, what the fuck do you think Source is, IDTech 1? Source is quite obvious in that it is one of the prettiest engines around.
we should have a forum for shit mappers
I wouldn't say "shit" mappers; just "inexperienced mappers".
We need a n00b thread, like an inexperienced mapper's version of the map pimpage thread.
Good maps will be played and stay afloat on the forums, bad maps sink into the sea of garbage. It is self-regulating.
Good maps will be played and stay afloat on the forums, bad maps sink into the sea of garbage. It is self-regulating.
This, bad maps are silently ignored.
We can sleep safe knowing that it could be a lot, lot worse, if my first map was anything to go by.
Good maps will be played and stay afloat on the forums, bad maps sink into the sea of garbage. It is self-regulating.
It only works until great maps are underused, and many don't know of better maps than what they are using.
It only works until great maps are underused, and many don't know of better maps than what they are using.
If a great map is underused then it isn't popular, so therefore is not a great map to the masses.

Perfecting them. I've been stuck in a development loop. I tend to make a tiny change and compile the map again and again. Never feeling ready. Now with a revamped lightning.

So your rule only really applies to playable maps and not maps designed to show a concept off.
The problem with letting the community show you what a good map is or isn't by playing it is that you get skewed results. There are lots of very nice Roleplay maps, but the masses decide to use downtown, as that is what they are used to. Does that make the other maps any worse? No, it just shows the community are idiots and should not be used to judge a maps quality.

echo You can't release your first map, no matter how good it is, because you haven't made two credible releases already, sorry!

Except that, downtown suits their needs much better because despite the dull look its layout for darkRP is flawless. Ajacks is right, downtown suits the needs of most players, so it's the most popular.
And a history of at least TWO creditable maps.
Think about what you said... How the f*ck would they get 2 creditable maps without having a history of 2 creditable maps? They wouldn't be allowed to post them.

I can see your ignorance, this has been noted for 2-3 times already, stop flying.
How would that even work if they need two maps to release a map?
However, if you look at the history of threads like that, they don't get used. Currently, people ignore the fact we have a help thread and make a new thread anyway. And when hammer wasn't working properly, people ignored THAT thread too, and kept making new threads complaining how hammer wasn't working.
A special noob pimpage thread would be ignored.

Way to dodge answering it. Ad hominem argument and all that.
As IronPhoenix rightly points out, it'll be ignored. I don't know why you people try. You put in effort for no reward or markable change.

For some reason I see no skill needed in browsing a simple forum , nor a thread. Now could you please use your eyes before trying to be smart you sonofabitch.

It is part of the mentality of most forum goers. When they arrive at a fourm with a problem, they will not be thinking in a logical manner. Much like this thread for example. You yourself have fallen into that pit by suggesting unenforceable rules.
So...much of the time, a new thread is created because either their problem isn't exactly like the one they found, or the search isn't working (like currently), or because they are blind. And personally, as a long term forum dweller, i have seen how people think by being around for a while. This is not join date elitism, just a point in hand.
COULDN'T FUCKING AGREE MORE /caps
How about 300h/atleast on record w/ Source SDK for starters.
What.
What.
I don't consider time leaving it open by accident exactly time. I have 1,000 hours, but I'll admit a lot of it is accidentally leaving it open or getting distracted. Realistically, I have about 700.

Oh god, this is what really gets me anymore. We really need a mod who'll ban people for their threads like that in here.

I normally just close Source SDK once Hammer is open.

They aren't doing anything against the rules. If we banned people for things like that, where would it end. Although...banning people for suggesting that 3kliks tutorials are good would be great.

True, but careful! 3kliks's followers may be watching, might trigger another debate! :ninja:
