Don't add any buildings, it would ruin the map wildness. Stack few containets and you have an airstrip. Map looks great, gonna test it out when i come back from Germany.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! This map looks pretty nice. But yes some sort of central building would be nice. Perhaps a fortress of some kind with some nodes? Edit:
Ideas: Add quicksand add some secret tunnels you have to dig to add some building areas add a night and day fuction the works with life support like normal day is hot normal night is cold (you can do this with timers and must have a skybox for this... HOW TO DO(not realy just requirements) Timer, lights, darker skybox texture for sky) add a 3d skybox add somthing to make it unique make this a stranded map its a good idea make if you dig far enough down you start getting to water make it so you can dig (breakable function...) make some new entites for it for more fun... Thing i can do for you if you want my help: Modify stranded gamemode to suit this harsh invernment... Make a new sky texture (http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6429/skytextureig6.jpg) Make a new ground texture (sand) Make a new water texture for my idea Make a new damp ground texture (sand watery for quick sand)
Many of those ideas are close to impossible on the source engine. EDIT: Quicksand and digging is a big no. Digging is possible but in that scale no and it would only be huge blocks.
Okay, i'm back, and i've tested it. It's really cool, very challenging terrain, kinda too challenging, there's almost no single piece of flat ground... And easteregg was very, very easy :3
Add a valley and a few shacks
Don't add buildings. It's in the middle of a DESERT. You won't see buildings and airport in a desert. Could you make a mud version ( mud replace sand and skybox is cloudy ) ?
Downloaded it, tried it, and it was fullbright. My eyes still burn.
Downloaded it, tried it, and it was fullbright. My eyes still burn.
Yeah, happened the same to me.
wow no replys since January
It's not fullbright...
This map is really nice! It would benifit from being more sunny though, it looks a little gloomy. Also possibly some rolling sand and dust here and there would look good. (as in particles)
wow no replys since January
Thanks for notifying everyone of this.
this is an Amazing map its really fun to go on a big hill and suicide to se your ragdoll fall down the hills...

The map is to bumpy and i dont like deserts that are bumpy unless they are realistic bumpy maps :D :D :D :D :D :D
You need to make a giant worm that gobbles you up if you walk with a rhythm, and if you play your cards right you get to ride it. Lol, now I want Dune models; Still suit, crysknife, thopter, carryall, sardaukar, shai-hulud (lol, prolly too big tho)...
That's a good idea. But make it a run down, long since abandoned military airport. The USSR had a lot of those in it's satellite states in desert locations like Kazakhstan.
(User was banned for this post ("Rule #17 / Rule #24" - Terrenteller))

Reminds me of the old Motorcross games.
Is this still being worked on? Just wondering, awesome map though.
Nar, i scrapped it ages ago.
How did this get popular suddenly. I release this 166 days ago.
Wow, thanks man. That map could be great for wire-tank fights.

Quicksand can be done by checking "No Hull Collision" in the displacement thingy, then adding a slow moving 'Func_Movelinear' inside it, triggered when you step on it, then add a "point_hurt" and set damage to 500 or something. Digging can be done, with a breakable displacement, filled with A LOT of rock props/physboxes.
Looks pretty cool, but i think I'd b cooler with some like hidden passages or like caves or something.
