Restart your comp?
Nope, just did, and i get the same exact error, i'll try removing all entities and compile again... see if that works...
Don't remove all entities. Otherwise it won't compile. Keep a player start and lighting at least.

Try to switch your -game. It worked for me when I got that error.
It's probably your displacements. Got any power 4 ones?
Yes, i have a few around, however, i found something interesting, it works for HL2 DM, but not HL2. Will try it in gmod when i work on more and compile again...

Power of 4 displacements smaller than 1024x1024 (something like that) will almost 100% crash the Source engine for some reason.

If you try hard enough you can also make power 3 crash the newer engines.
It's the vertex density.
It's the vertex density. If you try hard enough you can also make power 3 crash the newer engines.
Doesn't it have to be something really small like 8x8 or something? I remember reading that in some thread a really long time ago...
Doesn't it have to be something really small like 8x8 or something? I remember reading that in some thread a really long time ago...
Thing is, none of my displacements are anywhere close to that small...
Doesn't it have to be something really small like 8x8 or something? I remember reading that in some thread a really long time ago...
256x256 power 3 aggressively manipulated will do it. Just drop all your powers OP.
Well, i think I just prooved you all wrong, ran beautifully in Gmod, screenies soon.
Well, i think I just prooved you all wrong, ran beautifully in Gmod, screenies soon.
*shrug* I've had it crash me on one of my more recent projects (one of the dogfight arcade maps). Bit of an arse pain.
*shrug* I've had it crash me on one of my more recent projects (one of the dogfight arcade maps). Bit of an arse pain.
Well, all my P4 displacements are over 1024x1024, so i'm good in taht regard, as well, al i do with then is paint geometry and paint alpha. for osme reason, Source 2009 Hammer is really messed up on my comp, stuff dont render in 3d view, and it flickers like an epillepsy test...
Do you get that when you look at overlays? I get that sometimes.
No, I mean the WHOLE map, everything. Displacements, arches, blocks, models everything.
Get a better graphics card. :v:
Not my card, I can play orangebox with full settings (laggily) but still, playable, with shader Model 3 shadows too... not my card... though Nvidia sucks.

I seriously hate Nvidia, my card BSOD's on Unreal Engine, as well as the engine used by Just Cause!
Mine doesn't. I have a 9500gt You probably are using too old of a card or something, because Unreal and Just cause are pretty GPU intensive.
Probably not your problem, but whenever I look straight down in the 3D on a complex map, it starts having fits.

I guess we should probably not use this thread as a conversation about this... Save it for the hardware section, no?
I guess we should probably not use this thread as a conversation about this... Save it for the hardware section, no?
Makes sense, though i really want to know why Hammer is trying to make me Epileptic, so i use 2006 for now...
Probably not your problem, but whenever I look straight down in the 3D on a complex map, it starts having fits.
It's just the detail sprites glitching out.
