Some comments about the map:
[B]The Good:[/B]
- This is my best optimized map yet, with VVIS taking a grand total of four seconds to complete. This map can be played on high and low end rigs both.
- This map features some neat easter eggs. Walk into the closet in the bedroom, use the radio in the living room, hit the switch under the stairs, and a few others.
- Despite being all indoors, I tried to make the map relevant for players using all weapon types.
- This map has a total of about 50 spawns, making it capable of handling a large playerbase even if it's not necessarily balanced for it.
- The elevator has a built-in anti-block/crash/abuse system.
[B]The Bad:[/b]
- Currently, Garry's Mod has broken ambient_generics. This means that all of the sounds in my map play at the map's origin, under the stairs. To properly evaluate the sounds I've used in the map, run the dev branch of gmod under the beta's tab of the properties box.
- The art direction of the map is schizophrenic at best, the map started out originally as an RP map and was rebuilt for TTT on a totally different plan.
- There's a known bug in the social hall where some physics props will render fully black. This is clientside and is fixed simply by walking out to the lobby and back in. This is caused by the toggleable light in the lobby.

Well I wanted to keep this map a surprise but I also would like to possibly win $100...so...here is the map I have been working on for the past 6-8 months on and off. It's in beta stages right now and has not been tested online. While it is not the prettiest it features a ton of intractable environments. The map's main areas are a military base, a large science lab, a radioactive cave, a hazmat disposal area and a large scifi reactor. Lesser areas include a walkable vent system, river, security buildings and rooms, sniper towers, power plant and a giant radar dish. Some of the maps features include: a working weapons factory, teleports power by forks, destructible reactor that causes hallucinations, a summonable radioactive fast zombie and more! It does not have an official name right now but the working title is TTT_Experiment2.

There is still much more to this map. I specifically left out a lot of the good screenshots so people can discover them in game. And like I said it is in beta so there are also a lot of things that need more polish.
Thats really neat! But I would recommend using the [noparse][t][/t][/noparse] tags just to shrink the images a bit

Yes I like the T tags much better. Also I made TTT_Bank just so you know my pervious (very old) work. I have learned a lot more about optimization since then...

You might not be I'm not sure I totally qualify. If I have to release this map by June 30th I will probably drop out. I would rather release my map in a state that I am happy with then have it playable with a bunch of unfinished elements. I don't mind a few people testing it out but I'm not ready for this to be distributed yet. I haven't even play tested on a server!

I'm assuming you meant to ask me for more pictures and not for pictures of Sonador getting boned. I might release some more later I don't really want to ruin some of the fun of exploring the map right now. Especially because somethings need to be reworked and are no where near final.

Preview of my map in CS:S because I like playing with the bots. I still need to finish the interiors of a couple trailers but each one will be unique. Optimization is still a bit of an issue (I suck at making layouts that are easy to use hint brushes on) but I'm using model fading which is working nicely.

Good idea. Those haven't changed much since the first version, I expect the militart base to get a big overhaul before release.

I had a feeling he might bail. Two months is also a pretty unrealistic timeframe for a mapping contest. My map just happened to be close to beta when I noticed this thread but I've been making it for more then 6 months on and off.
My map is in a position, content wise, that I would submit to this contest but optimization is just godawful and I can't seem to fix it. Its bad enough that I can't release the map
