Fucking Blue Shift. Shit's impossible to play because of Steam's shitty port or something. I don't know what I'm talking about. But it's unplayable.
Sorry man, it was like 2 in the morning when I posted and I was just getting ready to sleep. Working on a sort of deathmatch type map at the moment that spawned from the idea of having a really non-linear map, i.e. not having things conform to the grid. Also been doing a lot of modelling, most recently this: What you been up to? Why you been gone so long, bro?
I've just lost interest in mapping until lately, so I was on the other forums of Facepunch. I want to get into modeling, do you have any tutorials you could recommend?
That would depend on what program you're using. If you're student, you can get a student copy of Maya or any other Autodesk piece of software here: http://students.autodesk.com/ In which case there are plenty of tutorials out there. However, I would suggest getting into Blender, as you don't have to worry about ever having to purchase a copy for whatever reason: http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/ Tutorials for Blender are here: http://www.blender.org/education-help/tutorials/ and http://www.blenderguru.com/ The thing is, with Maya, because it's a commercial piece of software, a lot of tutorials and the such aren't free. You need subscriptions, DVDs, books etc. whereas Blender has quite a large and generous community and therefore a lot of tutorials. Of course, it's all down to personal preference. Once you've got the hang of modelling in one program, you've got it down in all programs. It's just a matter of mastering the UI.

For any of you that liked 2019 for L4D2, I've just released the beta for First Access users, including friends and stuff. You guys are awesome so go nuts! It includes the first map.
Blender does have a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of the hotkeys, it's so easy to use.
Well, from what little experience I have with it, it's vastly different to other programs, such as XSI, Max and Maya, so it's a lot harder to migrate to but it's hard to really say whether or not it's actually harder to learn it from scratch.

(I think it's supposed to be Mirror's Edge from all of the mirror's edge textures (such as cityeye ad)) It's really dirty, unorganized, and asymmetrical.

I'm glad to see it was changed for the good. If you don't know, I have a fully functional story in 2019 II. At the end of 2019, the rescue helicopter crashed and BAM cut to credits. For part II, this is immediately followed up upon: 2019 II is seen through the eyes of the L4D crew, showing what happened to them during that day. DLC will later be introduced showing the rest of the story for the L4D2 Crew.
I played the beta, it was fun I know its a beta but there were a couple missing models and some missing textures
I played the beta, it was fun I know its a beta but there were a couple missing models and some missing textures
Yeah that's to be expected Thanks! Can you tell me where? And could you tell me what you liked and disliked?

Maybe I'll try making in l4d2 now...
Maybe I'll try making in l4d2 too now...
Get ready for days of NAV editing Seriously that shit is sooo difficult. But, the engine can be bent to have nearly-functioning NPCs like in HL2.
I just want to make something, I don't feel like making it playable :downs:
I just want to make something, I don't feel like making it playable :downs:
make a box
make a box
then, Carve a hole in the box
then, Carve a hole in the box
Then use the morph tool to turn it back into a box
Get ready for days of NAV editing Seriously that shit is sooo difficult. But, the engine can be bent to have nearly-functioning NPCs like in HL2.
Is NAV editing that difficult? Maybe a bit tedious, but I've never had too much difficulty with it.
