I'm annoyed that everyones getting SFM, even people that aren't interested in making videos much, yet my friend who's a great animator would love for it, and still hasn't got it.

It's the bog standard layout.
I should note, that since the ui redesign, blender feels more like something you might pay thousands to use, rather than a free piece of shit that doesn't pay any attention to ease of use. There are still major differences, but it is the best free modeller i have used (and i used a lot before settling on blender).

The thread was set up to try and divert the randomness from the pimpage and question threads, and hoefully get rid of some of the "post your mapping related thing here". Whilst the randomness has been diverted to a thread which makes it much more manageable, i notice that threads are still being made to post music and pet hates in the sub forum.
Whilst i agree that the shitposting is a bit annoying (who really needs to know about the sausage someone just devoured), the moderate posts (such as legend's blog) are much ore relevant to the mapping section. Perhaps im bias, having used this thread to show off the stuff i am making for frozen skies, but i do believe that having this area for mappers to post the other stuff in their life (within moderation) is quite interesting. And some of the stuff people post might then reflect in our work. I hadn't seen a stag beetle in about 15 years until timenova posted his find, and now i am tempted to (eventually) build staggie into frozen skies.

Same. I'd just LOVE to make films with it. I sent a letter to them last night, but haven't heard any replies yet. I haven't really done much with movies, and I wanted to try my hand at it. This would makes tons more easier to make films than with 3Ds Max or Maya, which I can't even get in the first place. I do hope your friend gets it :) If he does, show me what he has done with it!

Why does it matter if we go off-topic? No one is getting hurt, we aren't starting any trouble, nothing illegal is happening, it's all pretty fair. Sure, we've gotten closer to the point where it's a bit difficult for outsiders with a bad posting style to fit in, but normal people can fit in just fine. Drugs Discussion is pretty illegal, we aren't. They're here. OIFY is getting worse and worse everyday, it's still here. I'm not using them as excuses, just saying, I don't see why going off-topic in a chat thread is such a sin that it requires you to be the new watchdog mascot of yap and blabber. Legend's post wasn't even that bad, it's just a link.

I asked Craptasket if we could start a new version with the basic rule being that posts have to loosely wrap around mapping and gaming.
I mean, I get what Craptasket's saying. I just wanna talk it out.

I hope you aren't missing this too. Based on this addition, it seems like we're all post-happy gamers who just want to post for the sake of posting and nothing else. This isn't about that, it's about the tiny community that's been formed within yap + blabber and sharing things with other members in this small community. Unless it isn't, then I have it all wrong.
