Might be less organized, but then, without a requests section there's less time spent requesting requesters to make their requests in the requests section. Releases might be more tricky to find though.

The cubes are just using a special shader that shows the bounced light for the position of each cube, kinda like how Valve shows their ambient light when you use r_visambient.
You're seeing the amount of fall off from the surface of the lighting. Since light doesn't bounce forever.
