Does anyone else feel sort of resentful towards the Perpetual Testing initiative? I feel sort of like it's undermining the efforts of "real" mappers and modders.

Although i never tried it, I feel this way towards Alien Swarm's sdk. Just a lot of giant prefab sections to drop and rotate. Looks like a new edition of "Mapping For Kids" rather than something i can talk about and baffle my parents. Soon, new mappers won't know what a microbrush is or what nodraw doesn't do, it's stupid.
I really hope it doesn't get out of hand, I don't want some little kids posting their 5 minute maps here
It kind of feels like it has the same stigma of "free-to-play" user friendliness that all developers ,even on the PC, seem to be heading for today. While it may be more accessible, it almost seems to take freedom away from people that could otherwise learn more useful techniques in the world of modding.
Maybe we can get a petition or something to ban people from posting their cut and paste modular maps. If not, we can always scare them off...
I can understand it for portal 2 though, any other game I would be ashamed to use it

Well I'm sure you could find and salvage some from derelict ships in an old dock or port?
Does anybody know why Steam always shuts off after I play a game? Its pissing me off cause after I got dem virusssss it takes like 5 minutes to load up.
Oh my god fuck you hammer why do you crash when I go into the flags tab you made me lose so much progress fuck youuuuuuuuu
They're soo expensive ):
There is a military naval scrapyard in portsmouth...you could try there.
Personally i want the submarines they have...
Nomad- easy solution, get rid of the virus.
Is there, where? I have lived in Portsmouth for almost 10 years. Never seen a royal navy scrap yards. Sure, there are quite a few places dotted around with obsolete boats in, but, they're small 2 people boats. Plus, the navy doesn't use engine order telegraphs, they're very old. Used in the days of Steam.
I can't remember where, i just remember driving past a couple of derelict subs and mountains of scrap.
Well, more work on the deferred lighting test map...

I dunno what else would be useful for testing lights, I have 4 marine models in the underground bit with parented spotlights, I even made a cookie texture to resemble the visor on that model, and parented the light to the head bone so it moves with their idle animation.

I live in Portsmouth. :v:
It's near a motorway overlooking the sea, all sorts of rusted old tubs.

It's standard swarm props.
Also update, Biohazard said he will send me it once he's finished what he's doing right now. Then I'm gonna make a video of the map, hehe...
