I can see this new portal 2 tool being useful because you can block out a level in it, and bring it into hammer for further refinement to the level geometry. That is what i am going to be using it for mainly.
God damn why do mappers insist on using a stand alone flickering light in rooms. All these zombie survival maps are making my eyes hurt.
God damn why do mappers insist on using a stand alone flickering light in rooms. All these zombie survival maps are making my eyes hurt.
IT MAKES IT SPOOKIER. I don't see a problem with it. Sure it does hurt your eyes, but the whole point of doing it is because, you know, stuff happened and zombies hate lights so they punch them so they flicker. I have no idea.
So I've been using the sdk for about 2-3 years now. Why the fuck didn't I view this page on day one? https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Hammer_Hotkey_Reference Seriously, I found so much shit that could have made my life so much better. Fuck. The O hotkey with clipping is genius.
Oh god what, how did I even map without these.
Might not be the right thread, but is there any specific reason why the CS:GO sdk likes to do this with shadows? [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/541800729614132080/D13F25A07402E285FB1F862CC58C6B4BAB55083B/[/t] aka: black as shit

Mirrors Edge style storm drain, I'm just adding stuff that will look nice with Biohazard's shadows. That was quite a bit of effort, but now it has railings.
Ironically, i too am playing with containers today.
A wild path down appeared.
I haven't really followed this thread, so what happened to that CSM system that one guy (sorry - can't remeber who) was about to release?
A wild path down appeared.
I love you. THOSE CRANES. SO WHITE. EDIT: Where did you say one could get those crane models?
A wild path down appeared.
Do you have any in game screenies?
I haven't really followed this thread, so what happened to that CSM system that one guy (sorry - can't remeber who) was about to release?
It was shitty, he's a greedy faggot. Moving on... [editline]6th May 2012[/editline]
Do you have any in game screenies?
I said I would post a video eventually, so wait for that. It'll have a break down and shit.
I love you. THOSE CRANES. SO WHITE. EDIT: Where did you say one could get those crane models?
Alien Swarm, IIRC.
It was shitty, he's a greedy faggot.
No, not that guy. I meant the fellow facepuncher who posted about his own shot at it in this thread not so long time ago. He told he was about to release his version soon for everyone, just to show of to that greedy guy etc.
How difficult is it to port the alien swarm models to the orange box engine?

At least Biohazard does it the proper way, 100% from scratch - not some shitty hack that was the equivalent of banging rocks together. [editline]6th May 2012[/editline]
How difficult is it to port the alien swarm models to the orange box engine?
Not very difficult, batch decompile, mass edit qc if needed, batch recompile for ob.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2bqnb6dr5koxstj/scaryhall.MP3 I made this thing for map, a small scary atmosphere loop. Let me know what you think.
God damn why do mappers insist on using a stand alone flickering light in rooms. Zombies just want to hug things...sometimes they hug the generators too hard.
