Basically this, but for hammer

Would be the most awesome thing ever.
I have been hoping similar thing for a long time for a hammer.
It's really annyoing to find errors from complex systems.
I'm terrified of hitting the limits of the Source Engine when I'm mapping.

You have to be trying quite hard really.
I'm terrified of hitting the limits of the Source Engine when I'm mapping.
I have done that a few times recently, just make everything into models instead and you are good
Javascript Phoenix: well...the speedo wont be accurate anyway
Pyth: speedo rofl
Javascript Phoenix: so if you are on what you think is the speed, it wont be
Pyth: i know you mean speedometer
Pyth: i thought of the man thong for pool activities
Only pyth could come up with that...

i actually managed to do this while i was trying to come up with some concepts for my father when he was going to rebuild our guest house at our summer home. it's a really really small house but since i can't model i had to make a load of stuff out of brushes. this was before i knew propper too, so it was basically just shit compiled into horrible. turned out ok though, since it was fairly easy to make changes on a virtual design instead of having to change the physical rl model we eventually made for it.
and i managed yet another shitty pageking. drink wine with me.

His dingo howls at the moonlight.
Whenever I see pictures like that (more along the lines of shock pictures), it takes me 0.0001 seconds to to digest what the picture is and everything about it. Scrolling at the speed of light doesn't affect my brain at all.
anyone know how to copy the tf2 eyeaduct underworld effect?
like the flowing mist above the water and on the sides?
i cant find any sort of mist texture anywhere
So, I tried Portal 2's editor for the first time and I've realized that I'm the one doing things wrong. Never again will I try to make 128 x 128 x 64 nodraw brushes, and the crashes that result from doing so are obviously justified.
Talking about P2's editor, I released a test chamber today.

It's meant to be hard, but not impossible. Let me know how it is as I'm planning to release more.
trying to figure out why vrad.exe stop responding, i let it keep going but it's just sitting on "Build Patch/Sample Hash Table(s)....."
trying on normal without vbct, seeing what will happen

This guy had the same problem (french, so beware)

He apparently made visgroups, and called one displacements to put all his displacements in, and forgot to put one displacement in the visgroup. It resulted with hammer getting stuck on one displacement (the non-visgrouped one) that had a lightmap scale of 44.
Perhaps it can give you an idea of what it could be.
http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=8609
This guy also had a similar issue and fixed it by selecting a higher shadows quality. So perhaps lightmap scales is something to investigate, or vrad quality parameters.

Seriously, why is this thing non-stop crashing? Hammer does NOT do this with the other games. I can't make any brushes without the thing exploding.
Does anyone know of some good mapping blogs and websites dedicated to level design and the like?

Is there any good resources for learning about shaders in Half-Life 2? I've got SSE and I'm a bit lost. Followed the desaturation tutorial which is cool, but I haven't got a clue of where to go from that. Checked the Wiki and it was to no avail. All this time I've been trying to make a blur over the whole screen. :(
