Would you guys consider game like Assassins Creed 1/2 and Fallout 3/NV example of games with good maps and gameplay?
Of course both have their flaws, but there's certainly hundreds of ways to go about completing missions.
And, it seems Call of Duty: Black Ops is effected or taking it back, since the interrogation scenes are also interactive, even the menu. But, who knows, what I think is its the graphics the HD fucking graphics which takes up space cause of the high resolution skins and sprites, and those high poly models, that they have Cut Backs so they can fit the whole project into the smallest byte as possible, OR to be processed right and faster (Hence they're trying to minimize the requirements.)
I like Fallout games, fucking deteste Assasin's Creed though...

The interactive bits are a gimmick, a la quick time events.
I'd like to see more games like GTA. But instead of a map and and a UI dedicated to show you the way and directions, let people figure out themselves how to get somewhere. I loved GTA 1, you had a city map... On a piece of paper that came with the game CD.
And that's why I always got lost.
Anyways, thank god that Valve doesn't do what OP described. Another reason that Portal 2 will be the shit.
I want more games to be pre-rendered backgrounds.

Assassin's Creed 1 + FO3 were awful pieces of shit but number 2 + New Vegas were really good.

FO3 had terrible gameplay, you ended up resorting to VATS every single time you really wanted to kill someone; but what it had that was great was a storyline that ISNT forgettable. NV really got the gameplay down, but sadly the storyline lacks. I just plain hate AC, so I have nothing to say about that.
Have you played AC2? I hated AC1 but I played 2 and i was like whoa
I've played both but could not finish either of them
I don't have the patience to finish games anymore
even the old ones
I get pissed off with HL1 nowadays and quit before the tram sequence is over... :saddowns:
HL1 is pretty bad though, I think the only reason people like it is nostalgia

Yeah it's the only reason I play it...and for the crowbar impact noise...
I hate it how a lot of companies are straying away from Singleplayer and focusing solely on the Multiplayer.
I miss games where the multiplayer was a thing to keep doing after you finished the story. And it was a no-rules deathmatch, not "Shoot, level up, get new gun, repeat 50 times, click a button to go back to level 1 and gain e-peen"

I like both Assassins Creed 1 and 2, but I much prefer the second. I've yet to play FO NV (getting it soon, along with all the FO3 addon packs) but I loved FO3, it's one of my favourite games.
The half life 2 universe would have a hard time holding up a free roam game, since its based around Gordan Freeman and his direct adventures based on gman's "orders".
Oh god...pre-cum from the thought of an open HL2 world....

Wouldn't be right as it's based around Gordon Freeman and his crusade against the combine, not hijacking stalkers and doing drug deals for the rebels.
HL2 RTS gameplay sketch
An HL2 RTS, the combine use the citadel as a home base type building, combine soldiers can get produced. Along with Striders, Gunships, hunters, etc. They can go out and capture citizens to create new soldiers at the "Nova Prospekt" constructable building. Transports can be loaded with soldiers and dropped at the battlefield. Also the regular "construction man" units are Stalkers. The Helicopters have a Carpet Bomb special ability, Striders have a Pulse Cannon ability, so on and so forth.
Rebels can purchase Buggies and Airboats as scout vehicles, that can be upgraded with the Tau cannon or helicopter gun. There is a Gordon Freeman hero unit who can give units a damage bonus when nearby, etc. There are also Rebel sappers who can commandeer Combine vehicles. Rebel units overall, since there is less variety, will have a higher damage. Rebel squads start with SMGs and can be upgraded with RPGs and AR2s.

Hmm, I never seen one idea of that done before. Instead of making a factory that produces offensive or overall attack, produce defenseless units cheaply that, en-masse, can capture hostile units and make them stronger. Again, I've never seen that done before.

Wow, you can always rely on the modding community to blow your mind :v:
That's more or less my vision.
Here's a question for you: when was the last time any of you played... a 3D platformer? Not one of the old-generation ones like Spyro or Jak and Daxter, but a platformer on the PS3 or the XBox? A game where you run around, double-jump onto floating platforms, punch out colourful enemies and maybe gather a handful of collectibles (out of, say, a thousand).
Moreover, when was the last time we had a game with a non-human main character? You guys sick of grunting meatheads spouting "edgy" dialogue? Back in the day we had Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, who saved the world with a smile, and we loved them. Yeah they were kiddy and cartoony, but that didn't matter because they also didn't care too much about realism. At one point Spyro took up skateboarding. Seriously. Try and find me a space marine who's willing to drop his gun for a few levels and shoot some hoops. Go on, try. I'll be right here waiting.
The only game that comes to mind that fits those criteria (current-gen platformer with a clearly non-human main character) is the Ratchet and Clank series, with their latest game on the PS3. But even that is partly a TPS, with the option to play as a full-blown FPS in the camera options (although playing like that is a bit wonky, since every other character and enemy is at least twice Ratchet's size). The whole series is colouful, light-hearted, creative with its weaponry and character designs, and not afraid to mix up the gameplay with some light puzzles.
In other words: I want more 3D platfomers.
A new, good, non faggy spyro game would rock my socks.
Fuck Elijah Wood and fuck srs business dark story shit and fuck talking sparx. (And fuck ugly new spyro)
